    Greta 1 250 Tina July 2011 This is beautiful Greta, a galga rescued from the killing station, scarred in both body and mind. 112carlotagalgos has healed her and now she is ready for a forever family to continue her care, and with whom she can share her life. Here’s her story, contact Charl if you can offer her forever. UPDATE – Greta has now found her forever home in the UK and will travel there in January.

  • Olivenza Perrera, Badajoz – Auschwitz for Galgos – and still the hunters deny any cruelty to galgos!!

    Olvenza perrera sign 250 The Hunting season in Spain is about to begin – for ‘hunting’ read also ‘coursing’. The poor rejected galgos and podencos from the 2010 season are still arriving in perreras across Spain for killing, or being abandoned and injured in road accidents.

    The Hunting Federations deny there is any cruelty connected with their members’ treatment of their galgos. They claim that all the scaremongering is because of ‘animal rights’ people lying. They continue to stick their heads up their a…s and ignore the fact that photos and videos abound on the Internet to prove a lie to their claims.

  • Galga Guapita gets better – podenca pup Lucia arrives

  • Far from Fear – caring for injured galgos in Germany – Calendar 2012

  • Petition the Spanish Government – abused galgos and podencos in Spain

    Galgos in cage 230 Bulletin des Levriers In partnership with Urgence-animaux, le Bulletin Des Lévriers has launched a new worldwide petition to ask for the ban of hunting with Spanish Greyhounds (Galgos) in Spain. In 2009, we sent the 20.000 signatures which we had we collected thanks to Care2 to the Spanish Minister of the Environment. Let’s mobilize again to show the Spanish government that people around the World do not give-up on abused Sighthounds in Spain and that ill-treatments, very real, of Galgos and Podencos in Spain has to stop.   • Court Case against hunter accused of hanging his galgos – Baas Association fights on

    Fepaex.org galgodonbenito 250 You may remember in I reported that Baas Galgo were taking to court via a denuncia a hunter in Toledo who had hung his 3 galgos – he was identified because he left microchips in. This is the latest news from Sandra Baas.

    ‘It was agreed opening of oral proceedings in the case of the man who confessed to hanging his 3 galgos.

    The Court of Instruction No. 2 of Torrijos (Toledo) has agreed to open the trial against the man who confessed to hanging two of the 3 greyhounds found in a place nearby Fuensalida in February.The perpetrator is a neighbor of the same locality. The Fiscal Ministry demands a year in prison for a crime of animal abuse. The greyhound defense association, BaasGalgo, presented as the private prosecution with the lawyer Sergio Garcia-Valle, has requested a year in prison for each of the abused animals: three years in prison in total.

    SAVED, and a new home awaits him in Belgium, after his EU passport and all tests are done.

  • Injured galga rescued from a Madrid building site – L’Europe des Levriers appeals

    Olivia EDL 250 09 2011 This galga was rescued, injured and suffering from hunger, thirst and the scorching sun for three days on a building site in Madrid. She was rescued by a veterinary student. UPDATE – Sadly just learned that Olivia did not make it, sadly she died. But I leave here story here for you to read. Olivia (as she was named) had a broken hip and a leg!! Veterinarians wanted to kill her, her injuries were so bad.

  • 23 galgos from Scooby to France – Levriers sans Frontiers in action

    Here’s a nice bit of news for 5 galgos in the Scooby shelter – they are going to France to Levriers sans Frontiers for foster and adoption. Fermin chose 5 galgos who most needed to travel to France. Thanks to Odile Brochot, president of LsF. And here they are. Scooby now tells me that, in all, 23 galgos from Scooby going to France to Levriers sans frontieres. They had reserved 18 galgos and then Odile Brochot, the president from LSF, asked Fermin to choose 5 galgos who needed most to leave the shelter, so Fermin chose the 5 below, so that makes a total of 23 galgos leaving in September for France.
