Another Canadian off on an adventure to Scooby in Spain
Here’s the story.
Thanks to Valarie Woolf for bringing to my attention an association formed last year in Argentina – saving galgos. I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised, a Spanish outpost; last winter I posted a photo of two men laughing, with a hung dog between them.
Here’s the weblink, you’ll have to use a translator to read what they do.
Everyone in Spain either working in shelters/refuges or who has adopted a galgo – be warned, there is news already of loose galgos in Murcia being taken by the gitanos/galgueros ready for hunting starting next month….galgos in unattended shelters -(the majority of shelters don’t have anyone there overnight) are particularly at risk – and if the thieves are challenged, they are likely to become aggressive.
Pray for every galgo, rescued or still on the streets.
The miracle of Esperanza – every day a little step forward – latest video.

A couple of weeks ago I posted some photos of two ponies and a lion in terrible conditions at Circus Arvizu in Pamplona Spain. I’m pleased to say that I have received the following email, and have forwarded it to the source of my information.
Those of you living in Spain may like to make a note of this association and corresponding ones at the end of the message, for future reference. I feel sure they will be pleased for any input about conditions for animals in any circuses and zoos around Spain.
Here’s a very sad story I’ve just posted on Podenco Post. Beautiful podenca bitch Sandy, rescued in July by Galgos del Sol. She’s had a bad accident, it is now known how, and now vet fees are already 1,400 euros. Read the story here. If you can help towards the vet fees, paypal tinasolera@hotmail.co.uk Sandy will also need a forever home when she is recovered.
I have received this appeal from Greyhound Rescue Holland to Galgo Rescue Organisations – and anyone else who would like to help..
Over the weekend we have sent out an invitation to more than 70 international rescue organizations involved in galgo rescue to join our EU campaign. We are hoping for a good response.
The letter to the organizations is below. Click on the links for the draft letter plus outline for the MEP’s. This is the English version. The French, German, Belgian and Spanish foundations have received the mails in their own language.
No matter what the hunters do to their galgos, the innocent souls are survivors. Here are updates on Esperanza and Ken – two black galgos saved by the amazing volunteers of El Albergue (Esperanza and Galgos 112 and Ken (Galgos del Sol and Galgos Connection Spain). Grab a hankie!
Ken with a kitten – sooooo beautiful. Silvia has some videos of him; I can’t open the links so I’m hoping she can send me others. Keep reading.
I’ve received this emailfrom Gran Canaria. Please can any associations who have time, respond to the writer.
HI My name is Jovita, I´m a member and volunteer with two NGO related to animals: AUXILIOANIMAL.ORG AND ADOPTAUNAAMIGOENGRANCANARIA.ORG. We are trying to find information about abandoned galgos in Spain and the situation now.
You will remember the story of Esperanza, the badly beaten galga rescued from a garbage bin and being rehabilitated by El Albergue. They have sent an appeal for help to pay vet fees for a little puppy with a broken leg, dying at the side of the railway. It’s not a galgo or podenco, but if you have it in your heart to donate towards the vet fees to help this little soul recover, please click on Donar
