Fun Dog Show, France – Hurricane Katie did its worst!

And it rained 250 On Sunday, 11th September, I organised the 2nd Fun Dog Show at my home north of Niort, in Western France. Last year the sun shone gloriously, this year we caught the tail end of Hurricane Katie; it rained and rained! But we were not beaten because we have a huge barn – it used to house 400 sheep – so we just moved everything inside!

Because of the rain, numbers were down on last year, but each class was well supported and it was nice to meet people who had brought young dogs and rescued dogs and simply wanted a chance to socialise them. Next year they promise to come and take part!

Most of the promised trade stands turned up – again housed inside the bergerie, and my team of ladies weathered all problems to serve coffees, teas and scrumptious cakes from my kitchen.

There were prizes galore for the participants, rosettes, bags of dog food, packets of home made dog biscuits, and three cups for the Best in Show, Best Bitch and Best Male. Thanks to all my marvellous sponsors, Chateau du Chat et Chien, Royal Canin, K9 dog biscuits, JMB animal feeds. All in all, everyone who came was glad they did; roll on next year, it’s sure to shine on us!

Below is a selection of photos.

Well done Beryl & David and what a shame about the weather. Still from the photos everyone who made it had a great time and what a wonderful opportunity to raise the profile of galgos and podencos while raising much needed rescue funds.

It looks absolutely amazing, some great examples of loved pets there! Thankyou for all you do, for never tiring of thinking of the galgos and podencos of Spain. For endless support for those of us on the ground and for being there for these precious dogs.
Thanks a million Beryl and David and supporters of their show.
    Blessings from Spain.

Thanks for the great extra photos. Was the man wearing the blue rosette and clutching card number 084 the Best Male in Show! Lots of smiling faces, looks like everyone had a great time despite the weather.
