On Sunday, 11th September, I organised the 2nd Fun Dog Show at my home north of Niort, in Western France. Last year the sun shone gloriously, this year we caught the tail end of Hurricane Katie; it rained and rained! But we were not beaten because we have a huge barn – it used to house 400 sheep – so we just moved everything inside!

Galga Gaby, abandoned in Murcia, fostered in France, adopted in the UK
Here’s something to make you chuckle, amidst so many horror stories. I am fostering a galga rescued by Tina Solera of Los Infiernos Refuge in Murcia (by the way, click on the ‘hound’ logo on the right to donate desperately needed dog food to her) who is en route to her forever home in the UK. The galga is a terrible thief! What a surprise! But as she is larger than my Carmela and Sahara, she can reach more things.

Fete des Galgos and Manifestation des Chiens – 7 legged race!
Just received this picture from a lovely French couple who were thrilled to have a dog show to which they could take their crossbreed dog and enter some classes. They clamoured for a repeat of the show next year – he’s even offered to bring his Unusual Poultry – Buff Orpington etc. I said, OK as long as they are in cages and well protected from hunting dogs! Bruce and Dielette are on the left, Anji and I are on the right with Sahara. Judge Stephen Moon is in the centre in the blue shirt.
