Galga Gaby, abandoned in Murcia, fostered in France, adopted in the UK

Gaby Diary Pix 009 190 Here’s something to make you chuckle, amidst so many horror stories. I am fostering a galga rescued by Tina Solera of Los Infiernos Refuge in Murcia (by the way, click on the ‘hound’ logo on the right to donate desperately needed dog food to her) who is en route to her forever home in the UK. The galga is a terrible thief! What a surprise! But as she is larger than my Carmela and Sahara, she can reach more things.

Yesterday morning I made some beautiful cream of carrot soup – enough that we could have some for lunch (autumn has definitely arrived in Western France) and I could freeze two tubs for future use. Lunch was finished, I went upstairs to work on the computer – I’m finalising the Spanish translation folder to take to the printer – and MOH went outside to chop wood.

When I eventually went back downstairs to make dinner for the dogs, I collected together the bowls from the carrot soup, including the liquidizer bowls in which I had pureed it, and put them on the floor for the dogs to clean.

I looked around for the containers of carrot soup to put in my freezer.

It was then I realised that a certain foster galga thief had been up on the worktop and cleaned out the whole bowl!! Oh, Gaby Galga thief!! I knew it was her because her poo was very runny last night, with bits of red carrot in it!!

Her new Mum is going to have such fun hiding food in Gaby-proof places! And the cat will have to get used to having an empty food bowl if she doesn’t clean it out first!

She’s such an adorable character….we’ll miss her when she goes to her forever home at the end of January.

Sorry about your soup Beryl! I can see I’ll be in for some fun and games when Gaby finally arrives home to me in the Uk late January! As for Lola, the cat, she likes to graze at her food over the course of several hours, so I’m going to have to devise somewhere safe to put her supper so that Gaby can’t get at it!

    Hi Suzie
Knew you would love the story, just wish I had got
a photo. Shes getting a real canny gal; my kitchen is
incorporated into my sejour – makes socialising with friends very easy – but is
a nightmare to keep as a Gaby-free zone! Shes even devised a way of
getting round the baby-gate! Lots of laughs with her!
