  • Three more galgos – urgent appeal to save one from the hunter

Cordoba galga 250 1 9 2012The hands and feet in this photo are of a Spanish hunter in Cordoba. The galga, Nadine – see the fear as he crushes her to him, has been a breeding machine for the last 6 years, recently taken away from her last batch of puppies. Now he no longer wants her and is taking her to the perrera. The volunteer has managed to persuade him to keep her a few days whilst she finds somewhere for the galga to go. Please has anyone room, as the volunteer has too many dogs already at home. She is chipped. URGENT. anateremm@gmail.com

The second appeal. September now, hunting has started, and still there are injured and starving galgos on the streets of Spanish towns and cities! This galgo has been on the streets for weeks, but was so terrified that he could not be caught – disappearing at times that the volunteers thought he had gone somewhere to die. But he has reappeared – they’ve called him Wasa, and now he has a shattered hind leg, scavenging around the dustbins on the streets – desperate.

Macu Seville gypsy galgo 1 250 5 2012This news came in in Spanish on Friday, but I’ve had to ask my friend Marisa Perez for translating, thank you Marisa..

    From Macu in Seville –

Hi, I write you from my desperation. I want to kill someone!!!

I went to the settlement to take some pictures and I saw this galgo. Alone like excrement. Everybody wanted to keep him far away, but he wanted to come near us. When I saw him, I felt my soul to break.

I say to him, ‘nobody has tried to treat your skin, you only wanted some food and water and only found kicks and laughs about your aspect. All those stupid men called me fool for taking you and put you in my car, to hug you and tell you that now you are not alone.’
