  • CACAM Petition to stop ‘training’ galgos by motorised vehicles – please sign!

    Galgos quad bike 256 11 2012You will all be aware that the Andalusian Junta intends going back to the dark ages and legalising ‘training’ galgos from a motorised vehicle. They can be tied to a bike or a car or quad and run by force – if they fall, they are dragged and suffer horrendous body burns, injuries and pain – this from the age of 6 months!!!

    The ‘study’ says it’s okay whilst the vehicle does not exceed 15km. Who is going to control this speed? Who is going to police it? Remember, the dogs already are suffering physical and psychological abuse and if this measure is passed, this suffering will be exacerbated. And there are women on this Junta, who you might expect would be more sympathetic. But No!

  • Latest news on galga Estrela – fighting the odds in Portugal

    Portugal Estrella 250 11.11.2012You will be upset to learn that Estrela, the Portuguese galga owned by an alcoholic, is still hanging onto life in horrendous conditions, suffering from pneumonia, but Teresa and Ines are able to feed her the high protein diet paid for by donations, and to feed her surviving puppies. They are still hoping to rescue the galga and save her.

  • Malaga – galga dumped in the street with newborn pups – Galgos del Sol helps

    This galga mom was found in the street, in Malaga province, with newborn pups. An appeal was launched for transport to take the family to Murcia where Galgos del Sol have offered them shelter. Thank you Tina and the team at GdS.

  • Malaga galga – foster home urgently needed

    Jesus galga 1 190 11 11 2012This young galga, about 6-8 months old, was picked up at a petrol station at Montoro (Cordoba) on the Madrid/Seville motorway! She was looking for food, hanging around the restaurant, whose staff confirmed it had been hanging around for a couple of weeks. She was very thin and, since being rescued, has spent a day and a half eating and sleeping! She’s in a foster home in Malaga but can’t stay there as the parents of the fosterer have said they will not have a dog in the apartment. So it’s urgent to find her a foster home and a forever family. She’s friendly and gaining in confidence. Please contact the fosterer Jesus.   • Scooby – give Divino a home for Christmas, buy Scooby 2013 calendar

    Scooby Divino 250 9 11 2012This lucky boy is Divino, now safe with Scooby. Cobie says ‘DIVINO: Another galgo abandoned, hit by a car and then taken to the Valladolid provincial perrera where they wanted him to go and play on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Thanks to Scooby, who took him this morning out of that perrera, this stunning boy is 2 years old and not fearful. Has many years to play on the good side of that bridge for many, many years!! For adoption, contact Scooby.

    Also, what about buying a Scooby 2013 calendar or virtually adopting one of their dogs as a Christmas gift to someone. They care for a phenominal number of animals and need all the help they can get.

  • Badajoz perrera – to be murdered on 15th November! Galgueros – you have their blood on your hands!

    The perreras are overflowing with galgos – and every other breed of dog – and here are some in Badajoz perrera, due to be killed on 15 November. They are cold and wet, no comfy bed and warm waterproof coat for them. Please contact SOS Badajoz if any associations can save them. Here are the descriptions (photos in the same order).

  • Galgo pups dumped in a skip – urgently need experienced foster mom.

    Seville galgo pups 2250 8 11 2012We’ve read about the heartless Portuguese hunters taking newborn galgo babies away from their mothers and killing them, so the mothers can be sent hunting/racing again. These galgo babies are only a week old and were found in a skip in Villaverde del Rio, Seville!

    Here’s the appeal. ‘These small left them abandoned in a container, told us, and when we arrived were so small!! do how can do this? It must be inhuman and have no heart…

    We have nowhere to have them since they need to eat every hour and the people who we want to help are working and can not attend properly. We collected them last Friday, (2/11/2012) the weekend they were with a companion, on Monday with a paid host, but I can’t afford 10 euros/day it cost and already on Tuesday returned to collect them.
