One thing I hope Galgo News enables is the opportunity to discover the work of new organisations and people with the many links, features and profiles on offer.
A key tool in this is the comment facility that sits at the foot of each article as it allows people to voice their support but also highlight the campaigning work being undertaken by others.
And now the comment facility has been enhanced so that people can establish a presence both on Galgo News as well as elsewhere across the web.
Meet Venus, a happy rehoming story.
Marisa Pérez, a volunteer with El Refugio Escuela who rescued my little Malaguena Podenca Andaluz, Bebe, from a Seville motorway, has been fostering this beautiful white galga. Marisa tells the story:
‘I found her just before the moment she was crossing the motorway and when I called her she started moving her tail so happy and came to me as knowing she was being saved. She weighed hardly 15 kilos when I carried her to my car. (On average a galgo weighs double that!)

Today after having spoken with several people of the galgo world to verify the information flowing through the network, the president of the Spanish club of galgos has confirmed to me that several dogs have not yet been returned and that there are enough dogs that have not yet an owner
That is why we came up with the idea of proposing that we will take the dogs who are “left over” to avoid to be returned to their previous life.
Update on Karmel 17/11
Karmel has been on 1 Megasolene tablet per day for the past couple of months, and this has kept the Pemphigus Foliaceous symptoms from reappearing. Her hair is slowly growing back where she previously suffered hair loss from the pistules, and with a daily spray of Humiderm, her skin is less dry. In herself she is a normal happy galga.
Yesterday she had another trip to the vet, for more tablets and to give a blood sample.

I’m posting to alert those of you who work in adoption groups to beware of an inquiry from a man in Canada who is trying to adopt a greyhound for potentially racing in India. I answer emails for Greyhound Friends here in MA, and I’ve received several emails from this person wanting to adopt from us.
