• Advice – Canine Brucellosis

From Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends.

‘Canine Brucellosis, this is relevant to anyone in the UK that has adopted a dog from overseas .. please read

There have been a number of reports of some veterinary Clinics in the UK that any one that has brought a dog into the UK from overseas. They are now insisting it is tested for Brucellosis before they are willing to treat it .. I have attached a link below from an article from the British Veterinary Association recommending protocols ti be put in place ..

This will also include breeders importing dogs and possibly people who travel overseas with their dogs..

My concern is your dog needs emergency treatment and it is delayed until the blood results are back, it may be too late.
Asking some of our adopters it seems that the private practices are not making this request but the bigger practices that are owned by companies are doing so. Even dogs that have been in the UK for a number of years with no symptoms.

    GRA Gosbi 1 400 5 2023
    From Sandy Galgoslover

‘When you’re in the middle of it, you know that saving animals is a never ending story.

Our help was asked to take care of this boy and now we have been able to welcome him, Gosbi, who was brought to our Rescue center in collaboration with Friends of Mazarrón Animals. Apart from an nasty old wound on his neck, he seems to be in reasonably good condition. Gosbi was immediately accepted and included in the pack.

  • Galga momma Georgia arrives at Galgos Rescue Almeria

    Georgia finally arrived.

It took some time and organisation but finally Georgia arrived at Galgo’s Rescue Almeria.
She was picked up off the street heavily pregnant by a volunteer of Protectora Animales USKAR and then gave birth nearly straight away.

Georgia and her little ones were taken care of by a host family so that mum and the little ones could be followed up.
Our help was asked if we could take care of the mum once the little ones were old enough and no longer needed their mum.

We like to thank everyone involved in her rescue.

  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – help needed with vet bill

    GRA Phoenix400 5 2023
    From Sandy Galgoslover

‘Meet Phoenix, this boy was unfortunately the victim of a traffic accident which injured his leg. He was left to fend for himself and had to survive all by himself. Fortunately, rescue came and he now gets a new chance. He has now had surgery on his elbow. The surgery went well and there were no complications. Now it’s up to him to use his joint again.

He had been walking around with his injuries for quite some time, so if he doesn’t spontaneously start stepping back on 4 legs, chances are he will lose his leg.

This boy is asking for your support for his surgical procedure / rehabilitation. Vet bill over 1300 euros

  • Galguero – I don’t want them so I won’t feed them!

    Carmina galga 400 5 2023
Bastard hunter just wanting to dump his dogs. Huelva town, Andalucia)

    Hunter doesn’t want them!️

The podenco approximately 4 years old and the galga approximately the same age (no doubt she is pregnant). Hunter’s words: I don’t need them and I don’t feed them for another day, either you take them from me or…

My friend Carmina (who helped get Polar from Pepis to me) asked for help from associations to get them out of there as soon as possible.
