Disgusting – we can only hope with so many hunters out and about at the one time looking for so few wolves that they end up shooting each other by mistake! When I lived in Australia it happened every year at the start of the duck-hunting season – too many hunters plus all that testosterone and too much booze and before you knew it they were taking potshots at each other. Frankly the only thing I enjoyed about the start of the hunting season was the news that the first hunter had been shot, usually by one of his inebriated mates, at which point I would stand and cheer. Shame on the Swedish government for issuing these licences, surely it can’t be anything except a money making exercise on their part.

Sunday lunch is a major event in the weekly life of
the French, 4 course meals and lots of red wine. Sunday is also the main
shooting day – Wednesdays and Thursdays too depending on which area of France
you are in – so we go out horseriding on a Sunday between 1200 and 1400 – when
there is little traffic and no shooters – cos they are all at lunch. In
the afternoon they shoot each other, their wives…anything which happens to
move, sadly including their dogs too! Drunken b…..s. Whenever we
hear shots, we always place a curse – shoot yourself!
