For 20 years I lived inFrance and was on the team of L’Europe des Levriers going into Spain every 6 weeks to bring back rescued galgos and podencos to France for foster and adoption.
This video is of m6 3 rescued and adopted galgos and adopted tiny Podenca Andaluz Bebe. Polar is the cream galgo, dumped at 2 months old at a shelter in Pedrera, southern Spain, having injured his leg. We visited 4 different vets to see if an operation would improve his leg injury but all agreed an operation probably wouldn’t make much difference. He never seemed to be in pain but as the joint swelled with arthritis, I put him on CBD oil and tumeric.
Bracken is the dark brindle galgo, rescued from outside a Spanish supermarket in Muria with a hind leg injury. His leg was treated by the vet and he made an excellent recovery.
Carmela is the grey and white galga who was rescued from a perrera at 4 years old. She was very traumatised and it took over 2 years before she trusted us – even though she had confident galgos around her.
Podenca Andaluz Bebe was found with a hind leg injury on a Seville road. The shelter which the volunteer helped at had no room for a convalescing dog so Bebe came to me in France. My vet operated on her injured leg successfully and Bebe lived to 17 years old, always the boss of the galgos.
