At the beginning of May, Agir-pour-les-galgos, the blog of L N Verdier, wrote to the Spanish Federation of galgueros which organised the march in Madrid on lst March 2008, requesting that their site be added, on the fecaza site, to the list of those organisations which disapproved of the purpose of the march – supporting the use of galgos for hunting.
This is a translation of the letter on the blog of L N Verdier.

Sirs, galgueros,
We write to you with regard to your proposal to put a list of organizations against the manifestation of 1 March on your website. We express our dissatisfaction that you have not yet respected the request of those who asked to be on this list.
It is obvious that you show false information, with a list brought up to date of those which adhere to this demonstration, and also claiming a false number of participants in this demonstration – several hundreds of thousands according to the galgueros – but a few thousands according to the Police force. One also needs to remove from the list of the participants those who you recruited through temporary agencies to hold up the signs in exchange of 30 euros. The galgueros need to pay people to listen to them!!!
You claim that the million Spanish hunters are ” pillars of the conservation of the territory, the defence of the species and safeguarding nature” – 3 million small shots per hectare which kill and wipe out the birds and undoubtedly protected spaces, without speaking about the contamination, of the thousands of traps, snares, trap doors which maim and kill each year thousands of animals and certainly some protected spaces.
And galgos??? It is said that the galgos in the demonstration were extremely thin, they probably hung from trees or thrown in a well or killed with a rifle shot or left in a refuge. How long do you keep a galgo? One year, two years? Of course on the forums of galgueros one says that the old men galgos keep their dogs for life at their home and that hangings are the work of the gipsies but…. how is it that the galgueros, who claim to like their galgos so much do not denounce these ” gitans”. Why they do not have a photograph gallery on their site where one could see these ” vétérans” hunting? It’s impossible, for the good reason that in Spain a galgo ” vétéran” does not exist. He died a long time ago and at the hands of his Master.
We do not know how much you were really for this demonstration, but what we do know is that all over Europe and other countries of the world are hundreds of sites which condemn Spain for its animal ill-treatment, and especially galgueros with their more than 50,000 galgos assassinated each year…. These figures are the shame of Europe, since the remainder of Europe banned and prohibited hunting with the galgos.
This demonstration, once more, showed us the galgueros as they really are…. liars.
