At times I feel very humble, when amazing things develope from Galgo News. Just one weblog reaching out into the world, amongst how many million others? And yet, it only takes a few key words in a search engine, up pops Galgo News, an email arrives in my Inbox, and I type a few lines in reply.
I received this email today, as a result of one which came to me through Galgo News on just such a route as described above.
From Julie Costello, in the USA
‘As a result of the info and contacts you sent me, I am actually volunteering at Scooby with a friend of mine, Debbie with www.VirginiaGreyhoundsadoption.org and we leave THIS SATURDAY (22/11/08)!! We will be there until Dec 2nd and are very excited.
I will be bringing a foster home with me and another foster for a rescue group in NY! I have been collecting donations and am not sure how I am going to make out getting it all to Spain because I have so much and I am fearful of customs even though all the donations will be in checked baggage…. I have attached a picture of the items I am bringing.
There is another lady who makes and sells coats www.dapperdawgs.com and she is delivering 20+ coats in person to me today! Everyone has been very responsive.’
Julie and Debbie are setting up a weblog to cover their trip, so I will be posting updates on their story as and when they come in.
As I said before, I feel very humble that all this action and help has resulted in a chance finding of Galgo News on the Internet.
Bless you and Bonne Chance!

Even though this is an older post, please realize that you reach many, many people.
I have made some small donations (in goods, easier to find than money :-)) to organizations in need since following the news on your site. Recently I have even signed up as a volunteer to translate from English – Dutch for the Scooby Medina site.
Don’t feel humble, feel proud. Progress is being made. It’s going slow, very slow, too slow. But we need people like you, who can turn a computer and an internet connection into a very powerful weapon, too spread the word.
So thank you. For your words and thank you for your relentless effort.

Bonjour
Thank you for your really kind words, I am
extremely touched for someone to say this. We are all so passionate about
helping the galgos in any way we can, and I get frustrated that Spain,
especially the government and galgo racing and hunting federations, do not
realise the terrible image people around the world have of their country.
And they also give a very bad name to all the wonderful Spaniards who do so much
work for the mistreated and abused animals in their country. I hope you
join in my letter writing campaigns and petition signing please. My latest
letter to the Spanish Prime Minister and the racing and hunting federations was
to tell them about my book, which exposes their hypocrasy and corruption.
I have had an acknowledgement from the Prime Minisers office, but as always –
there is never a response from the federations! I cant understand why
they wont deal with the problem they cause – they are the root of the problem –
there are many very intelligent and powerful galgueros – and still they think
the world will continue to sit back and do nothing. Oooooh, it gets
me so angry!
Bless you for caring, and thank you again for your
very kind words.
