You may remember back in the autumn of 2008 that the Bright Eyes Society appealed for donations for a fighting fund to pay for the legal costs of bringing a Spanish hunter to court on Ibiza for unbelievable cruelty to his podencos. Read the original report.
Bright Eyes report the latest development.
“Just as we were packing to travel to Ibiza for the trial we were informed that it got postponed. The accused got a forensic woman to declare that he is mentally ill in regards to his alleged mistreatment of animals.
“So, he is fine and healthy for everything else, according to the statement. The judge has now ordered the psychological tests we had requested, carried out by professionals in the subject of mental illness. We will keep you updated.”
LATEST update MAY 2009
The accused did not appear for the trial so now the next date is May 25th 2009. We trust justice will be done.

I remember this man very well. I was involved with animal rescue in Ibiza from 1997 – 2004. He used to have literally hundreds of podenco ibizenco’s living, breeding and dying all around his house and the surrounding forest. This man is certainly anything but mentally sick. In fact he offered to sell me two pups who were 4 weeks old at the time, taking the from the mother, disgrace and I told him so. Anyway my main point is this, the ibizencan government laid down so much poison one winter to rid themselves of the “pest” problem – they murdered more than 90% of the dogs in ed cubells. They died slow and horrible deaths and I was witness to this happening. Spanish TV also came out to film this man and all his dogs approximately 2 yrs before the poisoning in 1998.

the Bright Eyes lady to get details of what happened to this man, without any
response. Frustrating thing is, I now see that the petition to help the
man in Cadiz has been started by Bright Eyes!
