Alpha Dog School – Special Offer to Rescue Associations

Paul and April Carrier run Alpha Dog World, based at Rota near Cadiz, southern Spain. They are both exceedingly qualified to deal with dogs, be it training, rehabilitation, just plain boarding – and they are the saviours of the associations in the area who deal with the aftermath of the Spanish hunting season – thousands of galgos abandoned, mutilated, injured – especially they help those poor souls who have been subjected to horrors which are difficult for us to imagine.

And now, with the recession, they are suffering like many of the rescue associations, who can’t afford to send galgos to them for rehabilitation, they just don’t have the resources. Fewer people are boarding their dogs, as they can’t afford to go on holiday.

SO, April and Paul have a few empty kennels and they would like to put them to good use for the galgos. And they want to make them available to any Galgo Rescue Organisation who wishes to use them for long or short-term care between now and December.

Their rates are 5 Euro/dog/day. Veterinary treatment can be organised and is charged at cost price by our vet.

So, any shelters and rescue associations who need help for their rescued galgos, contact Paul or April to take them up on this offer.

I have to tell you that, back in July 2007, when I went to Spain on a rescue with L’Europe des Levriers to collect my first galga and bring back another dozen of these wonderful dogs going to a new life in France, I met Paul. An amazing man!

Scuttle 1 300

He had driven up from Cadiz that day, with 5 galgos in his car. They had all been at Alpha Dog World for 4 or 5 months for rehabilitation. One was called Scuttle. Why? Well, she had spent the first few months of her life shut inside a small dog cage. This had resulted in severe curvature of the spine, let alone all the psychological problems. And Paul and April had cared and loved her, and now she was going to a new home in France.

They have so much experience in helping these deserving dogs. They devote so much of their waking hours to their care. The galgos desperately need them. Without Paul and April, many of the traumatised and damaged galgos will not get help, because the wonderful volunteers and workers in the Spanish refuges and shelters just do not have the time to devote to these deserving dogs, which Paul and April do.
