Could you sponsor medication for these two galgos?

Sanchos This is an appeal with a difference. We’re asking for people to sponsor two galgos. Their story first appeared on Galgo News in June 2008 and then again in October 2008.

They have been in foster with my friend Joanna Simm in south eastern France, and as they are getting on and have been with her so long, it is possible no one will now want to adopt them.

They both need medication, especially Quijote (also known as Luis). Could you sponsor the medication? This is what Joanna says.

‘Re the old boys, Sancho and Quijote. They are getting on, Quijote has a bad heart (yet continues to defy the vet ‘s predictions and, as long as he has his medication, he skips around like a puppy!) and Sancho is getting a little unsteady on his legs…but if a forever home did turn up it would be great. Otherwise they are fine with me.

Luis The problem is financial, of course…we are having a truly awful time with money, and the vet bills mount up…Quijotes pills cost from 80 to 100 euros per month depending on how he is. So if anyone can help with the medications, it would be wonderful.

If people could donate the pills, especially for Quijote, he needs VETMEDIN 5mg, a tub per four weeks, cost me 57 euros last time. Also, a couple of packs per month of MEGASOLONE 20 steroids, the amount of this needed varies according to how well he is. Don’t think they are as expensive…prob about 15 euros a pack? Sancho has Allopurinol.’

If anyone is prepared to sponsor the medication for either of these dogs, please contact Joanna direct. She will be very grateful.

remember to make the test diagnosi IGG IGM for Ehrlichia, Rickettsia conori,Babesia and Lymes in a specialized lab before to cure any dog. The University of Cordoba I think they are specialized in thse kind of deseases, but in Italy too Canrino University and everywhere…..
There are so many dogs in the Mediterranean Basin that have these deseases and they are un diagnnosticated.

    Thank you for your post.
These dogs came out of Spain nearly 2 years ago
with Amigos de los Galgos, having been tested for everything. They have
been prescribed these medications and dosages by Joannas vet and have been
closely monitored by him during that time.
    Happy New Year to you.

    Hi Beryl
Have access to a supply of Vetmedin 2.5 and 5gm (3 tubs of each) that are no longer required as none of our rescue’s current dogs are on this medication, so I will contact Joanna direct to enquire about sending these to her. That would hopefully save her some money for a few months. Not sure what French custom’s are like though – don’t want her to be hit with charges to pay if I post them.
    Cheers
    Suzie

    Bonjour Suzie
Joanna would be really pleased for help with medicines for the two old boys. Can you email her direct joannawsimm@hotmail.com and she will tell you her details. Quite a lot of people here order medications over the Internet, so I dont think you would have a problem, but best check with Joanna.
Thank you again for supporting the galgos.
