I know this isn’t about a galgo,it is about a donkey, and Refugio El Burrito is the donkey refuge where our friend Charl holds her annual Fiesta de Galgos. Please sign and circulate.
‘Dear friends, we need your help. As you can read from the enclosure, the February 16 we will be present at Villanueva together with the responsible of the Refugio of the Burrito to avoid that a donkey is brutally abused during a cruel village party. Here is the appeal received from the spanish friends of the Refugio del Burrito that we are spreading:
“El Refugio del Burrito will be present at the Pero Palo and so will be also the Italian collegues of the CEDA – Comitato Europeo Difesa Animali ; we ask you to support our petition http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/peropalo/
to enforce the Town Hall to enforce the Law and stop the use of a donkey in this Carnival. We do hope that also other associations from abroad will be present with their representatives, or will at least send their official support to us (info@elrefugiodelbu rrito.com) and / or at the CEDA (info@animalitalia. it).”

It keeps expiring when i try to sign. What is wrong with people that they could find torturing an animal amusing. It makes me feel sick just thinking aout what this poor donkey is going to go through.

Thank you for commenting – its terrible isnt it –
how barbaric the Spanish are towards animals using the excuse that it is a
fiesta or tradition. There is nothing traditional about animal abuse,
in whatever country. And why should the Spanish involved be allowed to
flout the law.
Greece has its own problems with animal abuse too,
so I appreciate your commenting on Galgo News.
Please tell everyone you know to sign the petition,
if there is still time.
Otherwise, pray that the Mayor stops the donkey
being used.

First of alll thank you so so much for everything that you are doing. I stumbled across Galgos News a few weeks ago and have been addicted to reading your updates ever since. I really believe that a site like this acan make a difference and it is so important to have people like you fighting for our animal friends.
Do you know if they got enogh signatures together to save the poor donkey from this horrific farce they call a party?

Great that you found Galgo News. Everyone involved in the plight of the galgos – the annual holocaust – needs to know that the rest of the world is trying to help bring it to an end. So the more people who read GN, the better!
Please join in all the letter writing campaigns and petition signings and tell as many people as possible to do the same. We have to keep plugging away, we will win justice for the galgos one day, we have to believe we will, however strong the racing and hunting lobby is.
They have to understand that, however much money their sports generate in the income of Spain, the adverse publicity because of their lack of action on regulating the gross overbreeding of galgos will also affect peoples attitudes to the country.
Ive asked Charl if she can tell me about the donkey, as she knows the owner of Refugio el Burrito, who was also involved in trying to stop the sadists and save the donkey.
Will post when I know.
