Abandoned galgos still – 2 months after the end of hunting – when will it end?

Galguita Los Huesos 1 GRIN 03 2010 250 I really don’t know how all the volunteers, associations, refuges and shelters cope, year after year, with the mass abandonment of galgos. Charl has spent 2 weekends trying to catch an abandoned galga at Estepona, without success, and now there is this appeal, to add to all the others I post, not counting the appeals I receive asking for foster homes and adopting homes.

‘Hello everyone,

I need a place in a shelter for this galga, her tail is broken and the vet says it may need to be amputated, if it does not heal. As you can see, she is very thin, but she is kind and gentle and good around other dogs.

Please, if anyone can accept her, send a ms to Travis 669101756 or to this email info@evolucion.org.es

thanks Alicia

Last night I saw another two in Torre Pacheco raoming the streets, heads down, they were totally depressed and spirit broken and of course both extremely underweight. I couldnt get close to either of them. Also on Calblanque beach there is a galgo all alone wandering around with a rope around its neck. I wasnt able to pick him up as I had my two with me and the children it was impossible. I also know there are at least two wandering in Dolores, Ive been told they look on deaths door. Im afraid to say this is far from over, in fact I think its getting worse.
The problem with the greyhounds is they are hard to catch, especially if there is no collar. It can take weeks to build their trust. Poor souls they have been so badly treated that they dont trut anyone.

p.s well done for catching the galgo. I wish more people would give them the respect they deserve and help them.

Christ, Tina, how do you live with it – these poor animals……as you say, when you have small children, what can you do to try and catch the poor dogs. These bastard galgueros, I continue to curse them and their families – there is absolutely no excuse for this – we have to put a stop to it somehow, as I cant see how it will improve whilst the shelters continue to be so full of all types of abandoned dogs.
Damned the galgueros to hell, all of them. The Hunting Federation has the power to stop all this atrocity, and they do absolutely bloody nothing. What good is it in Cordoba, saying to the galgueros dont hang your dogs, when they then turn up at the door with 90 live dogs, expecting the Spanish and overseas associations to sort the problem.
Damned galgueros!! Especially those in the hunting federation. And damn the galgueros who are politicians, regional and municipal councillors, members of Guardia Civil and Seprona – they have got Spain a really bad name. I know there are a few good people in all of these, who try their best, but they are a tiny minority.
It gets me so bloody angry for the whole total bloody unnecessary situation!

    Tina,
She wasnt caught. She came part way into the
trap, but didnt trigger it. She is still loose. She caught a
podenco, interesting case as it is in poor condition but unusually microchipped,
so Charl is continuing to investigate that route. Charl will be back for the
galga, maybe a dart is the only solution. Shame when the galga is so near
    to being taken.
You volunteers are just the most amazing people in
the world. I wish I could to more to help you.
