Galga Alma – heavily pregnant, abandoned in Barcelona by merciless hunter

Alma 1 SOS Galgos 05 2010 250 Introducing Alma, a beautiful galga – her looks today belie her story. Anna Clements of SOS Galgos takes up her tale.

‘We currently have a case of a female galga who we rescued over the Easter period, heavily pregnant, Albert performed surgery on her, it was a life or death op, all 9 puppies inside her had been overdue and were not alive but she managed to survive.

And what a surprise it was when we discovered that she has a microchip.

Upon investigating its origin, we traced the owner who had actually declared her as dead to the microchip registery office. So we now have a clear case of abandonment and we intend on taking him to court.

We have since found her a good home here locally and the family is anxious to legalize the adoption but understand that her case has to go through a probably long but necessary procedure.’

I hope they are able to prosecute this owner and make an example of him. May he rot in hell!

    Hi
Absolutely, they will nail him in Annas
    words.
But we have to remember just how damned corrupt the
legal system is in Spain. The judges, the police, everyone is so damned
corrupt – and they could be galgueros, lets not forget that – that the
association could have a real fight on their hands.
They have one of the best legal firms in Barcelona
on their side, who are donating some of their time free, to try and make a
difference and a stop to this practice. To send a message to the
    hunters.
Sadly, it will just mean these blasted men will cut
out the microchips from the dogs before they abandon them.
Doesnt it make you want to go into Spain and get
    them!
And these arrogant, ignorant, hunters dont accept
that they do a disservice to Spain, to the majority of Spaniards who abhor what
they do, and the bad name they get for Spain with the rest of the
    world.
Thanks for posting and for caring.

You need to get in touch with one of the rescue
associations – which country are you in, and I can email you with some
    links.
