This is really good news, bless him. Hope he keeps on improving. I am rooting for you Foguete, you now have everything to live for.
oh, this is good news, hope he will recover from this overdosis ropirinol. I don’t know why this lunaic gave him this drug as this medication is prescribed to people with parkinson symptoms, sedating them, but this drunk junky wants this dog to hunt for hares. I hope he doesn’t get away without punishment. There are simpy no words for his behavoir. Will send donation to Teresa to keep up with the costs.
well done boy we are all thinking of you and your mam for giving you a second chance keep going you deserve it so much bless you keep the good news coming for us bless you sweet heart
Update just in. UPDATE 11/12/13: Foguete’s neurological symptoms remain pretty much the same. Every so often he also loses his balance and falls on the floor, besides the tilts and tremors. He was sent home by the vet as he didn’t need a drip anymore, and there was no further care that could be given to him at the hospital. The vet says his possible recovery from the neurological damage (which we still don’t know if he will ever recover from) will largely depend on his body condition and general health, which at this stage is quite poor. He suggested that we first put our efforts in making him gain some weight and improve his overall health, and then he will refer Foguete to a neurologist. As said before, the damage is done, and is up to him to make himself better. Right now he is eating with an appetite and is being fed puppy food as it has more protein. Ideally he needs to be on a specialist recovery food like Royal Canin recovery, so we are aiming at getting him a few tins and bags to help him regain his body condition. Thank you all that are following this gentle dog’s story, it’s very reassuring to know there are people who care. Anyone wanting to send him food or anything else, please send directly to Teresa:

zooplus apparently can send Hills special diet etc to Portugal. Check out their website.
my galgagirl had the RC recovery in tins and the vet told me if she ate at least one portion of this per day this would be ok until she got back to health again.
My dogs get at least once a week a tsp honey to generate their health, my greyboy being now 15yrs loves it and when I have to apply medication honey is never rejected.
My little greyhoundgirl when she arrived here had also a nervous disorder, she began to shake her head without end this always happen while resting, than I recall that spasm in humans how it could be stopped, so I openend her mouth and reached far back to her tongues end, the shakes stopped immiatley. Nowadays she is nearly free of this, but what helped her greatly, she sleeps very close to me at night, she just needs that extra bond. Hope this poor boy will recover even if it takes a little bit longer.
Royal Canin can be purchased in Spain, will ask Teresa if this is possible also in Portugal.
Jodie Pilling has set up a special event page on facebook through which people are ordering special food and dietary supplements through zooplus.co.uk which can be sent direct to Teresa. Her address is in my comment box. She is also sorting out to purchase a special bed for him.
Katharina, why not email Ines direct at PDR – links in the post – and explain about your little greyhound girl.
Ines and Teresa are grateful for everyone’s help.

I will write to Teresa, also looking into informations on greys that have been doped and its effect thereafter.
jenny, yes it is wiser to send Teresa the money and she can buy the extra high energy food through her Vet, as this RC energy can only be obtained at the Vets. I feed my galga 1 can/per day 195g, the Vet called it the astronautfood as it high on engergy. Will send her today to cover the expense.
