Current legislation allows any abandoned animal which is picked up by the municipal services of the Community of Madrid and taken to the pound can be slaughtered within 10 days. We of the refuge El Refugio are totally against this and to stop this practice, we want to change the law. In Catalonia, for example, there has been a no kill policy in place for a number of years.
To achieve this we will foster an I.L.P. ( legislative initiative ) and will need to collect the signatures of at least 50,000 locals to support our initiative. But to get it started, we need to raise 5,000 euros to cover administrative expenses. To collect this amount we have opened a crowdfunding project on the ” cast us ” platform.
