When I was small, I hated the local annual agricultural show because they always held a raffle to win a foal! Goodness knows where the foals used to end up! Now some stupid b…..d is offering a greyhound pup in auction to raise funds for Marie Curie. Please Protest.

Many of you will be aware that a Greyhound pup is being auctioned in aid of Marie Curie.
Bearing in mind that Marie Curie Cancer Care are NOT organizing this auction and may therefore currently not …be aware of it, as it is being arranged by members of the racing fraternity (Northern Greyhounds).
Please send polite letters and/or emails to Marie Curie (contact details below) to alert them to this planned sale, and make them aware of the inherent cruelty of greyhound racing. Whilst they may not know about the planned auction of this pup, specifically, a quick Google search highlights that sadly a number of fundraising events involving greyhound racing and/or stadia have been held in support of this Charity in the UK and Ireland.
Please tell them that you do not consider the exploitation of greyhounds to be an ethical form of fundraising, and ask them to therefore PLEASE decline the funds that are to be raised from the sale of the pup, and to reconsider their association with this ‘sport’ in supporting their invaluable and vital work.
The association of a seemingly growing number of compassionate organizations, such as Marie Curie Cancer Care, is providing significant and wholly unwarranted legitimacy to this cruel form of entertainment and must be countered by the dog-loving Public!

I am writing to you as a very concerned supporter of your work and also as an animal lover about a fundraiser which is viewed with horror by thousands of people and I would like to draw your attention to it.
You may not be aware that a Greyhound pup is being auctioned in aid of Marie Curie, organised by members of the racing fraternity (Northern Greyhounds).
I wish to alert you to this planned sale and advise you of the inherent appalling cruelty of greyhound racing. Whilst I appreciate you may not know about the planned auction of this pup, specifically, a quick Google search highlights that sadly a number of fundraising events involving greyhound racing and/or stadia have been held in support of this Charity in the UK and Ireland.
Thousands of animal lovers including myself feel strongly that the exploitation of greyhounds is NOT an ethical form of fundraising.

I dread to think where this poor pup will end up.

I have written to the charity mentioned in this article informing them what Northern Greyhounds a pro racing fraternity intend to do please write as many polite letters and emails to this charity and tell them why they should decline to recieve the funds raised from the sale of this poor greyhound puppy. This should be stopped and if we can´t do that then at least shame them and name them for the sake of this poor greyhound puppy and also to prevent more greyhounds being sold at auction to raise funds for charities without the slightest concern for the poor greyhounds. this poor pup already been sold this will be going on all the time the only way it is going to stop is for mem of the publick to be present at these auctions sales etc to buy them self if i had the money thats what i would be doing and also the property to home them in i would be visiting race tracks to bring home the injured ones the ones that they dont see fit to earn money any more i am starting to support a little now where i can the greyhound rescue wales what a fab charity and especially when you resd that thye have rescues 2 e racers from being put to sleep cause of racing injuries it cost them in the thousands to put this right for these 2 beutiful souls they took the money out the last hope fund what was set up some years ago for a greyhound found in wales with his ears hacked off and other injuries what was so far gone he had to be put to sleep later that day so they called him hope and set this fund up in mem of him i think they could be talking about the same grey that afg named rusty bless him poor soul so now grw have used up the funds near enough for the 2 greys so they are desperate to raise funds again i will be sending a small cheque this week coming they have just set up their own kennels after about 20 years of raising funds good for them its hotel for greys single beds in kennels with quilts sorted yea thats the life and also grey gap and tia that i know of here in this country rescue from vets and dog pounds i do sponsor with tia and do what i can for gap when i can soooooooo many to help
Absolutely disgraceful. I can’t believe that any charity can think that it is acceptable to auction a live animal, like the puppy is a vase or a piece of furniture or something. Outrageous and no better than those idiots who advertise their pets on gumtree. I will be writing to the charity. This is not acceptable.
This alert was sent out by Action for Greyhounds. Afg put out many alerts for our supporters to contact charities/good causes, businesses, leisure groups, schools etc etc. Our www ( winning words in the workplace )campaign include our letters and accompanying leaflets for supporters to hand deliver stamp post to any of the above who may do or may think of planning to support greyhound racing or accept money raised from it.
