Galgos112 – saving hounds

Galgos112 Joel 2 250Galgos112 do a marvellous job of healing galgos and podencos. Here are two in their care, little galgo puppy Joel and podenca Dune.

This little guy is Joel. If you look at the photos you will see that he has a deformity in one of his legs, as if he was a duck. This deformity, probably from birth, doesn’t prevent him from being a normal active mischievous puppy. And the deformity has probably been his salvation, since with this leg he is no good to hunt.

Dune was not so lucky in life.

Galgos112 now has podenca Dune in their care. She was rescued by the Guardia Civil in Valencia, uncertain if she would survive.

She was not in a remote area or hidden away, in Adzaneta d’Albaida. Many people living there saw her but ignored her. When she was finally saved, she was a walking corpse, full of fleas and ticks.

The Guardia Civil have made a denuncia against the owner and judgement will be passed by a judge.

I’m looking forward to meeting members of Galgos112 in Paris next month.
