Galgos 112 recently took on this new galgo family.
‘We asked for help to host the galgo puppies found in Jaén, now we tell you their story.
We got a request for help for a group of galgos who were abandoned almost a month in a village, were walking through the streets in the heatwave of more than 40º, no food or water, just what some neighbors gave them out of pity.
When volunteer Sara arrived in town, 3 Adult Galgos and four pups were found, the situation was bad, two of the pups were half dead and did not react, the other two were active but also in bad condition. They were easily caught two of the adults and the four Cubs, and without waiting any more they put them in the car and went to the veterinary clinic where they were treated with water, antidiarrheal and deworming for intestinal worms and Coccidia. They were also full of fleas. Even better, they began to eat.
The two adults, Lina and Silver, are possibly sisters, they are young girls, about one year. Lina is black as coal and Silver is, as her name indicates, a beautiful gray galga. The two must have been companions of grief and hardship, they are very close, always together and literally leaning on each other, when separate they cry and despair until they came back together; when they are together they are calm and calm.
They’re thin and they’ll have to put some pounds, but soon they’ll be ready for adoption and in this case we’d break our hearts if we had to separate them, let’s try to find someone who wants to share their life with these two wonderful sisters. We know that a double adoption is complicated, but sometimes there are generous people who are willing to adopt two of a hit.
But this whole story is missing a character: the mother of the cubs. We said there were three adults left in the village, two were safe, but the third? With the urge to take the puppies to a veterinarian, they were dying, they couldn’t catch the third adult. The next day the volunteers went came back and there was waiting another beautiful gray galga but who showed in her body the scars of years of bad life.
We took her to the veterinary clinic and after feeding her and feeding her, she was faint, proceeded to deworming as she was also full of fleas, and gave her good veterinary recognition. The films show several old fractures on the fingers of the back legs, already welded, and a limp from a front leg that we haven’t even been able to know. We did a blood test and we took her home to rest. We have called her Melania and, according to Mary Jesus, the veterinarian, is probably the mother of all the others, both the two young adults and all the cubs.
This is not the end of the story: that night called us a neighbour of the village, there were two puppies that had stayed behind, perhaps hidden between the vegetation. One of us was able to find him right away and he’s also admitted to the clinic recovering with his brothers. And today, we could finally find each other. We hope that there is no more and the nightmare is over.
No need to say that none of these galgos were identified with the mandatory chip by law.
So far the part of the story we wrote, now it’s up to you to keep going. We do not hesitate to rescue them when they need us, despite us not having the means, but now we need your help to seek home for these beauties. There are a lot of expenses incurred and they will come: vaccines, special thinking, hospitalization, analytical , sterilizations, travel, etc. We’re counting on you again.
We thank Sara, Rosa and those who did not hesitate to come to pick them up, and to the veterinary clinic Seville that from the first moment they are turning to help these kids, without the help they are all lending we do not know what would have happened. Thank you also to the ones who have offered to foster the dogs until they find their final family, and finally thank you also to you that you read us and that you will help us by putting your grain of sand to make this all possible.
