Tragic end for this poor galgo, rescued by Galgos 112 but the vet couldn;t save him. In Almeria, a message received about this galgo was dying in a well.
He may have fallen in looking for shade from the heat, but unfortunately we can’t rule out someone throwing him in. He was immediately transferred to the vet. His body temperature when arriving and being treated was 40º and he was suffering from a failure which had left him in a comatose state, probably due to the intense heat endured (it was 43 degrees in the area) .
Despite the efforts of José Antonio, the centre’s veterinarian, the galgo we named Vesta was not able to survive and has left us.
Vesta was a young galgo, 2 or 3 years old, who had no chip, so it will be very difficult for us to locate the owner.
We could say that this galgo was lucky in that he received the maximum care in his last hours, but there are many Vestas wandering and dying alone. Despite attempts by some to convince us, the reality we face daily shows that these are not isolated cases. We at Galgos 112 will continue to work so that every day the abusers make it harder to get away with it.
How brave are these dedicated volunteers who face and deal with these upsetting situations too frequently.

This is horrible, poor dog. The rescuers are amazing, this must be terrible to witness and to carry on doing this day after day, no matter what they face, very brave people.
