Dogs RESCUED from certain death in Macau!
I know you’ll be thrilled to hear that hundreds of greyhounds at Macau’s notorious Canidrome racetrack are finally safe. You might recall that Animals Australia investigators exposed this awful facility back in 2015 — revealing that Australian trainers were exporting dogs there to literally ‘run for their lives’.
Our investigation stopped the export of greyhounds from Australia and led to the suspension of leading trainers. But it’s been the tireless work since then of Anima Macau, Grey2K USA and Pet Levrieri that has led to this breakthrough and the closure of the Canidrome.
Because of their efforts, hundreds of dogs will now be experiencing comfort and kindness for the very first time.
And the news only got better over the weekend with the announcement that an ‘International Re-homing Centre for Greyhounds’ will be established in Macau.
In an extraordinary partnership between Anima and the previous owner of the Canidrome, this centre will not only rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds from the racing industry, but will also help dogs rescued from the meat trade in China.
This development is the result of the incredible negotiation skills of Albano Martins from Anima, one of the finest advocates I’ve ever met. It was his unrelenting resolve and preparedness to look at an ‘opponent’ and see only a potential ‘ally’ that has secured the best possible outcome for these dogs, and many more who will be helped in the future.
You’ll be pleased to hear there is now an international network of rescue groups working tirelessly to secure new homes for the ‘Canidrome Dogs’. Their efforts are an inspiring example of compassion in action.
Your willingness to spring into action when we launch investigations makes victories like this possible.
Thank you so much for taking action on our website and letting decision makers know that caring people won’t accept animals being abused for profit. Countless dogs will now know kindness for perhaps the very first time in their lives. And not one more greyhound will ever have to suffer within the walls of the Canidrome, ever again.
I hope this video puts a big smile on your face today.
In gratitude,
