Amy’s story, from Ann Marie Payne.

‘This goodbye is really going to hurt. Remember Amy who was living in atrocious conditions during the lockdown. Sue JAy, through a friend, and myself, and with veterinary support managed to get her out of danger and down to Mijas where she was examined and vaccinated by Costapet.

Amy came into my life as an unknown quantity but, immediately found her place in my heart. She is such a beautiful character, kind, so loving and also funny. When we were at Costapet she stole a treat whilst I was paying for her treatment, and brought it home with her. She settled in so easily with Rosely and the very timid little Pearl. But every time I put clean washing on the table Amy decided it was her place to sleep! I put a box on the table to stop her doing this and she decided that was better to sleep in the box than on top of the washing as she could curl up better in it.

She’s been an absolute dream of a dog and, I find it so difficult to understand why they are not treated with compassion instead of being treated as a commodity and then dumped when no longer required. I will Never Ever agree that there are good Galgueros ( the name for owners of Galgos) or Cazadores (hunters) because they are ultimately responsible for the over breeding problem of Galgos, and also Podencos in Spain, and for the kill of the hare on the open fields where they might produce a Galgo that might, and I stress might win the Kings Cup.
