Herewith the two reports in English. As I’m absolutely pulled out workwise at the moment, please excuse that I have not corrected the grammar.
FLOOD: THE SHELTERS ORGANIZED
Andalusia under water … For information, announcements alarmist confirm what we already know: it rains in torrents unabated in Spain. Obviously, humans are rescued first. What happens to our shelters and our poor rescued dogs?
Pedro Munoz in Cuenca and San Anton in Cadiz have received assistance, including from Holland and Germany. In contrast, the poor little huts which we are “always the bottom of the cup”! L’Europe des Levriers offered assistance, supported by your donations, to buy water pumps.
The problem is that all water pumps in Cordoba have already been purchased and our shelters had to wait until yesterday, Friday, January 8, so that stores are replenished and to buy them. Now it’s done. For shelters, these pumps are a relief.
Yesterday, there was snow and since then it started to rain. The Guadalquivir river overflowed. Two of our refuges are nearby. The poorest huts have no electricity or sewage system! They need a pump that runs on oil, but things seem pretty complicated.
They tell us that they prefer to receive money to repair what was damaged.
Finally, note that the price of a water pump is 162 euros. The shelters will send the bills that we will put on the site with pictures of pumps purchased (to silence any bad language).
In the meantime, here are the refuge of our friend Alberto who evacuated their dogs and put them in two garages. Not very nice for the dogs, but at least they are dry …
Fortunately, we came to rescue when we made the most galgos and Podencos. But meanwhile, continue to drop and we must collect the new!

UPDATE
Cordoba refuge ; a volunteer Spanish testifies
Yesterday, January 13, the day was hard. We have a 700 km drive to get a pump in Cordoba. Andalusia is under water since December 15. It rained incessantly. We had taken this water pump because we were on a waiting list because of shortages, but this pump was not working well.
In Andalusia, the floods have caused much damage in the houses and businesses, but the insurance will compensate. The animal shelters are not so lucky. In addition to the damage, many dogs have suffered from moisture, not getting out of houses flooded, wet blankets though we changions often (fortunately, Cristina send us blankets from L’Europe des Levriers) croquettes damaged by water, no electricity.
We had no volunteers and no help from anyone, because the refuge is 50 miles from other villages!
We have provided constant and hard work during the Christmas holidays. The galgos were wonderful as always. The rain fell in cages and on they who hate the water, desperately seeking a place to get dry. Despite the unsanitary conditions, and while I was pumping water for hours with buckets, one approached me and gave me his paw. I had my back broken, but their kindness made me forget my fatigue.
Team L’Europe des Levriers was immediately worried about our fate to learn that a storm had fallen in Andalucia. Cristina in Madrid and Beatrice in France have seen the pictures of our plight and they have offered economic aid in order to get a pump.
Yesterday, it finally arrived and an electrician came to fix the electrical system to operate it. From today we will no longer afraid of rain and snowfall.
