Save the Galgo – Stop the suffering

Galgos del Sol 2021

Back in September 2010 I was contacted by Tina Solera, a volunteer with Los Infiernos shelter in Torre Pacheco, Murcia. There was an injured galgo and she asked if I could help her with him by posting an appeal on my Galgo News, which I created in 2007. A while later she took on he renovation of a few kennels owned by a friend of hers, and I sponsored one of them in my late Mother’s name. Tina has come a long way from there, still working hard saving podencos and galgos.

From Tina.

‘It’s the summer of 2021 and we thought you might like to see how Galgos del Sol is working present day. The centre is almost finished and thats all down to you and your fantastic support. With tens of thousands of galgos and podencos abandoned every year, take a look on how we combine rescuing as many as possible but still manage to maintain a good quality of living where the dogs get lots of love & attention, rehabilitation, vet care and time out the kennels.

It’s a delicate balance which I think we do well. Enjoy the video, we’ve come along way since buying this empty piece of land back in 2014. What do you think?

This video shows how far Tina has come with Galgos del Sol, the association she eventually formed.
