  • Galgo Batman with Protectora Scooby, hoping for a forever home

    Video

BATMAN, born 2021.  Small in size, black and white, with the sweet face of a puppy.  Batman is a gentle, sensitive, and very kind galgo.
The shelter is far too difficult an environment for him.  Being small and delicate, he struggles in such an intense and competitive setting.
He needs to leave as soon as possible and find a calm, protected home where he can live peacefully, relax, and feel safe.
Like many male galgos, Batman is affectionate, tender, and forms a deep bond with people.  He is also good with other dogs.  Batman needs peace, love… and a real chance.

When she sees you again, she comes closer with growing trust.
Cassia simply needs a sincere hand, patience, and good intentions. She will do the rest, winning you over day by day.
  • 6 more unwanted galgos dumped with Galgos Rescue Almeria

    6 galgos on this weblink.

Help us save 6 galgos… they need us.  A few days ago, we received a request we simply couldn’t ignore…A plea to help 6 galgos. 6 souls who are still with their owner (a hunter) in the Extremadura region.  They have no voice. No choice. No certainty about what tomorrow will bring…We want to give them that chance. A life without fear. A warm bed. Care, love, and safety — things they’ve never truly known.
But we can’t do this alone…
To bring them to us, transport costs €70 per dog. And that’s only the beginning — they will need medical care, check-ups, vaccinations, everything required to finally give them a healthy start.  That’s why we are asking for your help.

  • Galgo mother and son rescued from the streets

    Video

    From Galgos Rescue Almeria

We start the day with some wonderful news from yesterday. In the afternoon, two volunteers set off towards El Ejido to pick up two galgos. For months, Carmen has been working hard to bring a galgo mother to safety—she had recently given birth to nine puppies and still had a young son from a previous litter by her side. Not an easy task, as a galgo used to living on the streets doesn’t allow itself to be caught easily. But perseverance pays off. (more…)

  • Galga Dani with Protectora Scooby Medina hoping for her forever home

    Video

This is the beautiful galga Dani with Protectora Scooby who is hoping for her forever home.  If you have room in your home and heart for her, contact Scooby direct.

Her photo really pulled at my heart strings as she is the twin of one of my galgas, Carmela, who I adopted after she had spent 4 years at the hands of a hunter who maltreated her.  It took over 2 years of her living with my galga gang before she was anything like a ‘normal’ dog.  Very much loved and remember.

  • Greyhound Protection UK – answering the critics on banning greyhound racing

Kerry Hill, founder of Greyhound Protection UK, answers the critics (probably greyhound breeders, trainers) about the banning of greyhound racing in Wales and hopefully Scotland.

  • Refugio Kimba – forever there for the Spanish hounds needing help

    Kimba Shelter

Refugio Kimba is one of the oldest established animal rescue associations in Spain, since 1872.  And today they are still there helping them

Galgos don’t come to Kimba by chance. They arrive broken, frightened, marked by abuse and abandonment. Used for years and discarded when they “no longer fit”. As if their life only has value while they run.  They are incredibly noble and sensitive dogs. And even after everything, they still trust. They are still looking for a cuddle, a home, a chance. That’s what hurts the most.

We don’t ask for pity, we ask for awareness.  Don’t let your suffering normalize. Don’t look away.  They have no voice. We do.
From Refugio Kimba we will continue to fight for every greyhound. Use your voice for them

  • Help get injured galgo Indie out of the perrera to the vet

    Weblink.

This young galgo is in a perrera, injured and needing an operation.  Funds are desperately needed to pay the vet fees and help Indie on the road to a forever home.  Please look at the fundraiser and buy some ‘dog boxes’ towards Indie’s operation.

  • The magic of a Spanish Galgo

This is taken from a page about the greyhound but it also applies to the Spanish greyhound.

They might be tall, lean, and built for the speed of the wind, but their spirits are as gentle as a summer breeze. Greyhounds prove that angels come in elegant, leggy packages, often found curled up on a soft sofa instead of racing across the sky.

Their long, stilt-like legs carry a heart of immense kindness, and those deep, soulful eyes can heal the roughest days in an instant. We are incredibly lucky to be chosen by these graceful, affectionate companions who demand nothing but a warm spot to nap and a gentle hand. (more…)
