  • 2 young galgos at Galgo Rescue Almeria, looking forward to finding forever homes

    From Sandygalgoslover

Introducing Lotus (3 years old) and Roquita (2 years old). In collaboration with Friends of Mazarrón Animals, these two sweethearts were finally freed from their previous owners.  For both of them, this marks the beginning of a new future, where they can gradually experience what safety, love, and trust truly mean.

Lotus still bears the marks of his past: his body shows both old and recent scars. Yet, we’re already seeing the first signs of recovery. With the right care, rest, and patience, he’ll have every opportunity to regain both physical and emotional balance.

  • When is a dog considered a Senior?

Interesting article discussing this question.  Most of our galgos have lived to 14 years – apart from those who developed cancer, such as Sahara, Polar, Bracken and recently blind Podenco Bo. Little Podenca Bebe at 7 1/2 kg lived to 17 years.  So they all had a good innings. Currently we have Podenca Andaluz Rosie at 16 1/2 kg who is 11 and will hopefully see another 4 years of love and comfort in our home.

  • Galgos del Sur in Cordoba – helping the hunting dogs

I mentioned that our new foster dog Nera came from Galgos del Sur. This is one of the older established rescue associations in Cordoba.

  • Galgos in Chile – they suffer abuse too

Argentina and Chile both use galgos for hunting. Every year, more than 500 greyhounds are abandoned in Chile after being exploited in racing and hunting. Galgos Chile have been working since 2018 to rescue, rehabilitate, and rewrite the destiny of greyhounds in Chile. Because they didn’t choose their past, but you can choose their future. You can be part of their rescue and give them a loving home.

This is the story of Galgos Chile, translated into English if your computer doesn’t automatically translate the Spanish.

INSIDE THE ZULO By: Marta Navarro Garcia

Inside the zulu the air breaks, howls, moans, disappears.
Just like us, that when the season ends
    we have become caged bones,
    rumor of sogas,
hungry and cold made in Spain.

Sorry, I haven’t introduced myself yet.

  • Galga Mila in recovery

Update on Galga Mila with Galgos 112, with terrible face injuries.

‘Million thanks to all the people whose donations are helping Mila’s recovery. She is brave, eats a soft diet because of her wound in the mouth, but she tolerates food and medication well. The analytics indicate anemia already in treatment and lehismania. As soon as Dr. Cruz gives hers the hospital discharge, he will travel to Barcelona to finish recovering and start the treatment of lehismania.

Million thanks, without you it would be impossible to save so many lives.

    Galgos 112 Bono 7 2025 350
This handsome guy is Bono, a small youngster waiting for an adoptive family. Bono is cat friendly, would need a family that has another furry companion to be more comfortable. He likes the game and as a good galgo sleeping on the couch.

If you want to add joy to your family, write with your address and phone to info@galgos112.com and we will contact you.

JOCKER is another of the last greyhounds we picked up in Jaén. He was abandoned in the streets of Linares and was easily caught.
