With the French rescue association I worked with (till moving back to the UK) we brought out several galgo and podenco tripods. They always amazed me with how they adapted to having 3 legs instead of 4. Here’s the story of a new tripod with Galgos Rescue Almeria. If you can donate towards vet fees they will be very grateful as they are full to bursting with hounds.
‘Milagro
3/03. She had an appointment with the traumatologist. The vet and we did everything we could to save her leg, but in vain. Her first surgery in September ensured that her leg was back in the correct position. Barely a week after the surgery things went wrong, an infection developed in the joint, which meant she had to be hospitalised for 10 days and was given a course of antibiotics. This went well and so did her rehabilitation. During the 6 months that followed, she regularly developed inflammation in her joint, causing her paw to become swollen.
After 2 checks with the traumatologist and doing the right exercises, there was still no feeling in her leg since the procedure in September. We also noticed that it was a burden for her.
Yesterday, in consultation with her treating doctor, we decided to amputate. It’s a pity but we are convinced that this was the right decision.
In the meantime, this sweetheart is back home where she can recover in peace.
UPDATE 6/03
This morning we had an appointment at the vet to clean her wound and to change her bandage.
Her wound looks great.
