Competition galgos stolen and mutilated in Seville

From Plataforma NAC

‘The #CivilGuard of #Sevilla has detained two involved in the robbery and mutilation of two competition #galgos on a property in the Seville town of #VillanuevadelAriscal.

The investigation began following the #complaint filed by the owner of the estate for the #theft of two competition greyhounds with a “high economic value”, the Seville Civil Guard reported in a statement.

During the investigation, the #agents found that the alleged perpetrators took advantage of the absence of the owner of the house during the celebration of the patron holidays of the town of Aljarafeña to commit the robbery. The castrated #animals were located in a home in a neighborhood on the outskirts of the capital Seville.

Subsequently, the agents proceeded to enter and register the home and found the greyhounds “in very bad conditions” inside a #pen

Once recovered, they were transferred to a #veterinary center, where it was certified to present numerous #bloodywounds as well as #mutilation of the thumbs of their front legs, injuries that the veterinarian responsible for the case defined as “incompatible with their return to competition”.

The #dogs have been returned to their rightful owner and the two alleged perpetrators have been arrested and booked together with the proceedings of the competent Judicial Authority charged with one offense of aggravated theft and one offence of #animalcruelty for serious injury. The investigation remains open by investigators and no new police action is ruled out.
