Every time again, it’s that same fearful waiting… that moment when a request for help comes in and your heart tightens, because you never know what kind of suffering you’re about to face. We were asked if we could help take in a galgo girl and a puppy. And as much as we wanted to rush into action immediately… the Rescue center is currently running with only one person. It was simply impossible to pick them up yesterday.
The following day thankfully, it was possible. With heavy hearts, we drove to the meeting point. What we found: an adult galgo girl… and a puppy barely four months old. The way that tiny pup was handed over — so lost, so fragile — is something we will never forget.
Images that burn into your heart, and make you know: this should never happen. Never.
But despite all the pain, all the fear, all the misery they carry with them… they are safe now. Finally. In a place where they can breathe, heal, and rest. We left them safe and warm where they didn’t need to do anything. No fear, no pain, no uncertainty. We simply let them be — safe, seen, and welcome.
