  • How to train your dog off-leash

Many people can walk their galgos and podencos off leash. Unfortunately mine have strong hunting instincts and as we live on a farm with meadows full of birds, hares, feral cats and the neighbouring ones have sheep in, we can never walk ours off leash. • PACMA demand hunting in Castille y Leon be stopped

    Spanish hunters Castilla y Leon 400 3 2019
From the CREL newsletter of March 13, 2019

The Spanish animalist party (PACMA) claims the protection of wildlife and takes legal action.

The Hunting Act in Castilla y León (Spain) will be amended to “paralyze any hunting activity until further notice”. All this at the request of PACMA (Party of Animalists Against Animal Abuse).

Laura Duarte, spokesperson of the Spanish animalist party, argued that the regulation in question does not comply with the European directive “habitat fauna flora”, which applies to all species. Therefore, “if it is not consistent, this paralysis should continue”.

  • URGENT APPEAL. Please donate to help Arkos

    Arkos 400 3 2019
700 euros is still needed as of today’s date (20/3/2019) towards the operation for Arkos. Here is the story from Anne Carroll of Deathrowdogz.

PLEASE CAN YOU DONATE A LITTLE TOWARDS THE COST OF TRAUMA SURGERY THAT WILL GET ARKOS, OUR GALGO RESCUE BOY, OUT OF PAIN AT LAST?

HE NEEDS €1,080… WHICH WE SIMPLY DON’T HAVE!

So sorry, yes, this is another begging post… I know there are many more, but we have no choice if Arkos, a 5 year old Galgo, who clearly gave his all, is to ever know life without agony. He was found wandering the streets, one ear had been cut off and an injury to one eye, which cannot now be fixed. As if that wasn’t enough, he also suffered from bronchial pneumonia.

  • Campaign – Write and Protest to Valladolid Provincial Council Now!

Disgraceful, appalling, outrageous, tragic… There aren’t enough adjectives to describe what’s going on in Valladolid’s provincial dog pound.

The animals already there, and the constantly coming new arrivals don’t have any kind of veterinary assistance whatsoever. The council’s animal collection service has been without the services of a vet for two months, even cases of emergency remain unattended. Whether the animals arrive lame, dehydrated, malnourished, sick, there is no help for them.

Look at the state we have collected this poor greyhound puppy in; frail, with a 32 degrees temperature (when the normal is about 38’5) and with lungs full of pus. He was on the point of death.
Our vet has managed to save him from a cardiac arrest, but in reality the chances of him surviving are very low.

    PLEASE WRITE AND PROTEST!

    Write to Valladolid Provincial Council
    Casa consistorial,
    Plaza Mayor 1,
    Valladolid,

    Attn. Snr Óscar Puente

    Dear Sir,

Do you consider the treatment of these poor animals, or rather the lack of it, acceptable? Are you aware that due to your negligence animals are suffering and even, as in the case of this little one, may be dying? Such little value do you place on the lives of these beings who did not decide to come to this world, much less are they to blame for having been abandoned? It is your duty and obligation to give veterinary assistance to the animals collected in the facilities of “La Yosa”, and to deny an animal medical attention and leave it to suffer a painful death is utterly inhumane.

    Signed
