Ann’s Canine Care – cuddle companions needed
This fabulous photo of of two of the dogs at Ann’s Canine Care in southern Spain. Sabi is the tiny one, looking for a forever home, good with dogs and children. Ann is appealing for cuddlers for her hounds. Contact her on the website link above if you can help.‘When I get Galgos from the pound, on behalf of myself or other rescues it takes time for them to adjust, Feeding, grooming, cleaning the kennels and, generally looking after them. They develop a bond and seem to understand that they’re OK. But they have to move on to their forever home, and with more socialisation this makes the process easier for them. And for them to understand that us humans are not all bad. If you are in the Campillos area of Spain and can spare a few minutes of your time then please get in touch. We need your support.’

Protectora Scooby – defining a galguero
From Scooby. (Google translation)‘we start the publication defining what is for us a galgos: every person who breeding-keeps-Uses Greyhounds for hunting.
From here we ask several questions to the lords galgueros why, especially in these dates, are the kennels and protectors full of abandoned greyhounds? And when we say abandoned, we also refer to those greyhounds that are left by their owners in these facilities, because getting rid of an animal, even if you don’t leave it in the middle of the field.
How many of you take care of all the greyhounds that go through your life until they are old and die for natural causes or diseases of age? Do you really have all the dogs that are not good to hunt in your homes until they die? What do you do with the greyhounds that break a leg? Do you operate and stay with you until the end of your days even if you can’t run anymore?
The majority of “take care” of the animals that bring you or can bring you some benefit, but you get away from those of whom you can no longer take any advantage why you want to deny the obvious?
Scooby is arriving dozens of greyhounds, some collected from the street, others brought by their owners, others taken from the kennels, but all of them abandoned because they are no longer useful for their owners. The Greyhounds in Spain remain in their vast majority animals to use and throw and as long as they do not change the laws, unfortunately, this will continue to be.

Galgo Racing in Argentina and Uruguay – banned! Chile is next on the list!
Proyecto Galgo Argentina reports some very good news.’27/12/2018 today is a very happy day for all of us who love greyhounds. The President of Uruguay 🇺🇾 Tabaré Vazquez sent a project to ban races to Congress, but in case that was not fundamental, by decree immediately prohibits races in that country. Thank you to everyone who achieved this, and especially to Aptéha-Asociación Por el Trato Ético Hacia los Animales that through the campaign Galgo Libre uy never lowered their arms!!!
Thank you thank you from Argentina!!#stopgalgueros

Invisible fencing? The Whole Dog Journal writes
I recently received an email from someone considering adopting a Podenco and asking if invisible fencing would be suitable. He already used it on his other dog. Rather than respond with just my own view – hate the product!! – I posted the question on my facebook podenco pages and Podenco Post. Not surprisingly the 100% response was resounding NO and in some countries like Scandinavia and the UK it is illegal.
Coincidentally an article on the subject arrived in my Inbox this morning. You can read the full article on this link.

Facts and Fiction about Greyhounds and Galgos
Sunday 3rd February is World Galgo Day. Here’s what Mo Swatek says about greyhounds and galgos.GREYHOUNDS EXISTED BEFORE THE GALGOS
Actually its the other way around. Galgos were before greyhounds. Phoenicians brought them from Egypt to the Mediterranean coast. From there they came to northern Spain where Celtic tribes took them up north to the UK.
GREYHOUNDS WERE MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE
That is most possible not the case and if , it was a middle eastern sighthound and not a greyhound. Here a very good explanation…
