The Irish greyhound breeders/trainers don’t give a monkeys where their dogs end up, once they can no longer earn them money. It’s blood money and what the dogs will suffer in Pakistan at the end of their lives doesn’t bear thinking about!

Galgo Peluco with Scooby – hoping for a forever home
As we know, Scooby works tirelessly savin e hounds in Spain. Here’s one ready for adoption, Peluco. He’s so like my galga Carmela when I first got her 7 years ago. Read about him on this link and watch a video. Contact Scooby direct if you have room in your home and heart for him. -
Dogs and bones
For many years I gave large raw marrow bones to my dogs as being good for their teeth and gums, until one day my Swedish Valhund managed to break off a piece small enough to get stuck in her throat. This necessitated an operation and vet fees.I always clean up poop from my dogs, every time they go out and do one. Can’t say I’ve ever notice white bits in it, apart from once a foster galga arrived from Spain who supposedly had been wormed…but definitely hadn’t! However, I thought you might be interested to read this article.

Malaga & Granada – stolen galgos and podencos
With the mass overbreeding of galgos and podencos together with the number abandoned and dumped in perreras, it’s strange to read about stolen hounds which have been recovered by the Guardia Civile. There have been two such posts on facebook of dogs recovered. Here’s the report about one group. This galgo is one over about 40 waiting to be reunited with their owners….who sadly are probably hunters!‘We have received these photographs of numerous dogs, stolen in the provinces of Malaga and Granada, which were recovered by the Civil Guard after an operation they have carried out in recent months.
Now, they’re trying to locate the owners of the animals, many of them without a microchip, so they return them. If you think you know any of these perretes, please contact us by sending us your data:
asociacionporpatas@gmail.com tele Spain 0034 622623933The facebook page for this group of about 40 hounds is Perros robados recuperados if you are able to view on fb.
The second instance was 5 galgos being walked by children which also turned out to be stolen. 4 of them are below. AND below that are some of the stolen podencos recovered in Malaga.

Spanish galgueros – the curse of Spain
Story from the Protectora in Avila‘Hope is never lost.
Once again impotence, indignation and anger fills the hearts of members of animals in distress and of all animal defenders. On 16th January a notice from a village of ávila (SAN VICENTE DE ARÉVALO) warns us that they have found a galgo hanging and dying in a pine forest, what person can do such a savagery? Leave a living being hanging to die in slow agony.
We urgently contacted the town hall and spoke with the seprona to try to locate it; the area patrol at all times tried to help us.
Apparently, it had already come to the notice and been brought to the attention of the mayor of the area, who took as a solution(the next day!!!!) the next day to call the vet to proceed to eutanasia. So the poor galgo spent the night where he was found.
At 11 p. M in full field and without exact location, as the councilman of that town, was warned and did not want to leave his home so he could get the animal out of there to a safe place; it was not a job Simple, but it was urgent to try to locate him and see how he was. A person of our protectoar moved quickly to that town and with the indications received by the mayor and the help of the civil guard managed to find the galgo. Yeah, “for a change” was a galgo again.
We found the poor animal almost dead, with an eye burst from drowning and neck bleeding. Although the image that we show you is a little harsh, we want to record the cruelty of this act. The poor animal couldn’t stand.

Winter storms – rain and wind spell disaster for Scooby refuge
In December 2017 in the heavy storms one of the sheds where our horses and donkeys take shelter and eat, lost the walls because of the wind ??. This month are our dogs who suffer the consequences of rain and snow.We need to make some repairs in our shelter, but there are many animals, those we have to feed and to give veterinary attention monthly (about 700 among dogs, cats and farm animals) and we need your help to be able to face so many expenses.
Our animals will be eternally grateful you!

12 years in the rain and cold – Association Baasgalgo to the rescue
So many associations now only use facebook when publicising their work…so I have to trawl their pages to find out what is going on. The founder of Association Baasgalgo, Sandra Baas, moved to the USA a few years ago where she set up a branch but her work in Spain continues with Miguel in charge. Here’s a sad story which occurs all to often…‘When an image is worth more than a thousand words…
This is all Margarita had to get out of the rain and the cold… 12 years tied to a chain, 12 years of misery…
Our volunteer Eva was able to get her and she is now in one of our shelters while waiting for that home that she deserves so much in retirement, hopefully for her the best in the world.
