Greyhounds in Need was founded by Anne Finch in 1996…GIN also help the galgos of Spain. There are also Greyhounds in Nood Belgium – some lovely photos on their website, Greyhound Rescue Holland, PetLevrieri Italy, to name just a few countries which adopt galgos and podencos.
Story of a happy ending for 3 ex-racing greyhounds rescued this month from the Chinese hell and now finding homes in Italy.
Wish all galgos and greyhounds could enjoy life like my 3 – currently keeping warm in front of the woodburner!
(It’s a wish for all dogs, just used my galgos on this page!)
Please read and action in support of UK greyhounds.
Hi everyone. Just reiterating Rita James’ (Caged Nationwide) request to urge Park Plaza’s manager Daniel Pedreschi to reconsider hosting GBGB’s annual awards in January. Here’s a template Rita created but a personal message might have a better impact:
Thank you very much for your time.
PLEASE EMAIL THE PARK PLAZA MANAGER ASAP –
EMAIL DETAILS AND A TEMPLATE LETTER BELOW, SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COPY AND PASTE IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO WRITE YOUR OWN. THANK YOU

Dear Mr Pedreschi
I am aware that Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London, shall be hosting an event for the Greyhound Board of Great Britain on 28th January 2018.
Can we run this as a campaign…to get pet masks on all fire engines for the brave fire fighters who rescue animals as well as humans. Please share it with all your friends and contacts. Why not fundraise for your local fire station to provide the masks if they don’t already have any.
Interesting article on the benefits of pumpkin in your dog’s diet. My dogs love vegetables and whenever I am cutting up pumpkin, they are there waiting to share the small pieces of rind.
This is yet another heartbreaking story of cruelty to galgos in Spain…this time Jerez, Cadiz.
This poor young galga was would in this skeletal condition with her foot caught in an illegal trap – as if she hadn’t suffered enough! The person who found her called the police who called the dog catcher who took her to the perrera…where she was put down. Not a nice story but probably the best for the galga to end her suffering. Who knows how long she had been starving and suffering tied in the trap.
Man is the most damaging and criminal beast with the animals on earth, they should receive no forgiveness.
Please sign and share this petition to support Albano Martins of Pet Levrieri Italy to save the greyhounds at Macau.
Read the story of one luck Australian greyhound rescued and rehomed.
My name is Albano Martins and I am the founder of ANIMA Macau and proudly serve on the board of directors of GREY2K USA Worldwide. I have been working with Christine Dorchak and Carey Theil since 2012 to close down dog tracks and give greyhounds the second chance they deserve.
Magic the greyhound2017 brought many successes for our campaign to end dog racing, including the shuttering of tracks in multiple countries around the world. Please read all the details in our annual newsletter the Advocate!
Thankfully, one of the tracks that is about to close is the Canidrome, a track which is just across the bridge from my shelter in Macau. It will soon be leveled and replaced with new schools for local children. So now we are working very hard to raise funds for the safe release of the 650 dogs who have been lucky enough to survive this terrible place. One of our supporters is even running a race to help these dogs and the greyhounds in his home state of Florida!

Although it’s about greyhounds, it also relates to galgos, so enjoy reading.
