Please read and action in support of UK greyhounds.

Hi everyone. Just reiterating Rita James’ (Caged Nationwide) request to urge Park Plaza’s manager Daniel Pedreschi to reconsider hosting GBGB’s annual awards in January. Here’s a template Rita created but a personal message might have a better impact:

Thank you very much for your time.

PLEASE EMAIL THE PARK PLAZA MANAGER ASAP –
EMAIL DETAILS AND A TEMPLATE LETTER BELOW, SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COPY AND PASTE IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO WRITE YOUR OWN. THANK YOU

Dear Mr Pedreschi

I am aware that Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London, shall be hosting an event for the Greyhound Board of Great Britain on 28th January 2018.

I feel it necessary to advise you of the current scandal that has brought headlines yesterday and today to media worldwide. Journalists are also intending to carry out follow-up stories that will again make headline news; these involve the serious mistreatment and abuse of greyhounds that are being found in China. Greyhounds are reported to be scalded alive and boiled in the Chinese dog meat trade.

News hit the headlines in the UK yesterday and has now reached Hong Kong. This news is being further reported and expected to be broadcast on British TV shortly. British rescue campaigner Kerry, from Birmingham Greyhound Protection, has just returned from China, after rescuing greyhounds from the dog meat trade and is speaking of her findings. Kerry runs a greyhound rescue in Beijing.

I am sure the Park Plaza would not want to be in any way associated with an industry that allows its dogs to be exported to countries where they may be scalded and boiled alive, with no animal welfare laws to protect them whatsoever.

Caged Nationwide has recently made public the names and information associated with 30 exported greyhounds, some of which were raced in England and are now facing an inhumane death in China.
I am aware of an extremely large protest being organised for the event on the 28th January at the Park Plaza.

Please value your reputation and re-consider your connection with the greyhound racing industry by disallowing them to bring disgrace to your hotel.

Protesters will consist of hundreds of UK dog lovers; in addition, rescue and campaign groups will travel from Europe to attend.
I should also advise you that journalists will be present and report on this event, and as long as Britain is a nation of dog lovers, this may bring disrepute to your hotel.

In recent years, up to 450 people have attended the Greyhound Board of Great Britain awards protests, but as these dogs are now making the headlines across the world, it is likely that this demonstration may attract more protesters than ever before.

I trust you shall take my concerns for this breed of dog very seriously; as a greyhound owner I have learnt that they are loyal and majestic and are now known as making the best pets, mainly due to growing awareness and the need to adopt the lucky ones that survive this cruel industry.
Please re-consider hosting a venue for the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (who are under an ongoing investigation by the City of London Police due to allegations of fraud and bribery) and show that the Park Plaza Hotel puts good ethics before profits.

I trust you shall value the good name of the Park Plaza and not jeopardize the future reputation of your hotel.

Kind regards

I have sent an email this morning and will be donating to the Caged campaign. The horror stories coming out about the Greyhounds transported to China make me feel sick. The greyhound racing industry is rotten and evil.
