  • Shame on Italy

This news from the translator of my book into Italian. Terrible!

In order to lighten the massive amount of procedures which must occupy the Italian magistrates, the Renzi government has decided to decriminalize the crimes of lesser severity, including among these the crime of cruelty against animals declaring it a misdemeanor. This means that no torturer of animals will end up more in prison, and anyone is free to mistreat animals.

There are two petitions on the web, Surname, first name, email address, comment:

  • Everyone in Galgo and Podenco Rescue – from me

    Merry Xmas 2014 2 400
A million thanks to everyone involved in galgo and podenco rescue, to the fosterers and adoptants who give these fabulous hounds forever homes. And thank you for reading and sharing my posts and appeals.

  • Valladolid Perrera – dumping ground for the galgos

Scooby – still there for the animals.

  • Viento in Badajoz – abandoned and injured…shame on you galgueros!

Viento 170 12 2014VIENTO was rescued along with two other greyhounds in Badajoz, in very poor condition, full of wounds with a double fracture of his right front leg. It has already been operated on and is in recovery. He has to rest his leg and must be one month in his little cage, walk as little as possible for 5 days.

Viento is a very good dog, only two years old. He will need much love and many kindnesses to forget his traumas, like all dogs that have been used and dumped when not able to hung.

He is now in Valencia. When recovered, he will be available for adoption. Contact: Carmen Balaguer Llorens; mail: balallors@gmail.com.

  • Madrid Province – Capital of Spain? – of dog fighting?!

(Google translation)This is happening in a terrible area in the south of Madrid specifically in Leganés, muchisimos have rescued animals that have been used to sparring (bait to attack other dogs then used for dogfighting.

The police is aware of these facts, the council too, but here nobody does anything.

Neither do raids or inspections usually, this is a horror and no other option left for us to hand it to publicly know, maybe this way begin to take action.

Cases rescued from the area :

Bianka, shattered three months, used twice to sparring

  • Not a galgo…

One of the problems I have, living in France, is with the number of French – especially farmers – who keep border collies on chains as ‘guard dogs’! Even there is a little Staffie type dog just round the corner from me who spends her life on a 2m chain from the garage. I don’t understand why people have a dog – to do this to them.

I understand even less how someone in Spain can have a Husky x and keep it on a chain for 4 years.

  • Valladolid perrera – the inhumanity of a Spanish galguero

Someone who can let their galgos get in this state and then dump them in a perrera to be killed is not human – thank goodness these souls are now safe.

And another – rescued in a pitiable state.
