Letter to Senior Galguero – from a survivor

Charl Noella 250 12 20143 more galgos have arrived at 112carlotagalgos finca. This is a piece of writing by Charl del Rio about Noella.

Sr.Galguero

So you thought you would break me. Did you think I’d return?

I have stood alone, so alone, but I made it!

You left me in the cold.. sooo sooo cold. Hungry. Sooooo hungry. Have you ever been that cold sr..galguero ? Sooo cold??? Sooo hungry? Have you ever. Ever been so so hungry?

But you didn’t break me. I made it. I held on.. I fought. I Starved .. but I didn’t let go!

Bet you thought you had the last laugh. Bet you thought I was the broken hearted. Well here I am.. I maybe thin. Sooo thin.. but I made it. Tonight I sleep on a soft bed which I smelt over and over and over. You never gave me that.. tonight I sleep in peace. Warm. Belly full. Look at me now Sr.galguero.. for thanks to you I have a new beginning. Thanks to you I can think about me. For if you’d hung me, if you’d murdered me, I’d not feel this.

For all you’ve done to me, the cord which cut me free from my throat, the endless cold nights, the ache in my stomach. I am of a breed of forgiveness. Yet in these hands I now know…I will not return.

Charl Noella Dioni 190 12 2014The smells are different. The air is clean. A friend awaited me they call Noelia.. and this man brought me here.

Sr.galguero I will never ever ever return to you. For I made it!

My Life, My Freedom.

It is wonderful what Charl and her husband and family do for these dogs. I have received my book, ‘a galgo’s Christmas wish’ and it’s lovely. A great present for children, although I am keeping my copy!

I have recently rescued a Galgo “Gandalf” (via Greyhounds in Need) and they are so wonderful dogs so forgiving and wanting to please. I am honoured that I have been able to do just a little to help.I feel that Charl and her family do such great work and without their input these poor hounds would suffer so much more – my heart goes out to them. I just fail to understand why such cruelty exists / continues Guess it must be a totally different mindset…..and it is unacceptable in a so called civilised world.

That’s lovely Melanie, my two galgos were from Greyhounds in Need too. Gone now but never ever forgotten, two angels.
