Transport from Spain to Germany – dogs and cats die in the heat!
With the open borders in Europe policy, it is easy for anyone to travel to Spain and take a dog out of a perrera to home in another country. There are no checks at the border, and the animals, dogs especially, are adopted in all innocence by someone who then finds themself with a sick animal. It is instances such as this which caused Belgium, two years ago, to threaten to accept imported dogs,
At the end of June this year, 20 dogs and cats died whilst being transported from southern Spain to Germany. Pro-Galgo have the story.

Letter-writing campaign – join in – Spanish government, embassies….
Please copy and send this letter to the Spanish government, provincial governments and Spanish embassies around the world. You will find the addresses in the links at the end of the letter. I realise you are all busy people, but it is important that we keep up the pressure on Spain to do something about the mass abandonment of hunting dogs every year.
I realise also that postage is expensive if you are sending a dozen letters but, again, it’s not a lot of money if we can help make a difference, and help the noble volunteers in Spain and the Spanish islands every year all year with the mass abandonment of dogs.
Would associations also please link in and ask their members and supporters to join in. We need letters to go out in their hundreds – thousands would be even better!

La Gran Familia, Seville – dogs needing help, petition to sign
This is an appeal from Gran Familia in Seville.
‘We have come to the limits of our physical capabilities for the summer. We know that
currently there are many urgent cases that we that we are unable to help because we have a multitude of expensse built up – vet fees, treatments, and we have to pay for kennels for the dogs as we have no shelter.We have four residence with dogs in kennels which cost us 720 euros per month. Below are the dogs in them. This is a cry for help for them and for us, we need to feed the and treat them on a daily basis and of course people want to charge – both the kennels and the vet – and the debt gets larger.

A Dog’s Will
When humans die, they make a will
To leave their homes and all they have
To those they love.
I, too, would make a will if I could write;

8th October – World Event to End Animal Cruelty – join a local one
Message from Pia Berrend. We are planing a “World Event to End Animal Cruelty” which we affectionately refer to as WEEAC. An idea for the world’s first joint action against cruelty to animals which originated in the United States. WEEAC can now be found in 25 countries and 48 cities around the world, all on October 8th, 2011. Each country and participating city have organized events on their own.
Our organizaton was founded this past Feb. 2011, and the response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic and we have many countries & organizations now involved and more signing on every day.
