    RACING DOG PROTECTION ACT
Ask the League Against Cruel Sports to endorse it!

Many of our supporters will be surprised to learn that the League Against
Cruel Sports is not totally opposed to commercial greyhound racing, despite the slaughter and suffering to dogs caused by the greyhound racing industry.
Instead of campaigning for a ban on the industry and urging the public not
to attend or bet on greyhound races, the League is merely calling for improved welfare
measures, which will do little or nothing to end the suffering and wholesale killing of greyhounds (and other dogs) brought about by commercial greyhound racing.

  • Galgo Negrete – A moving poem from SOS Levriers

Negrete before 250This is a beautiful poem by Kathy Backes of SOS Levriers. I’ve translated it from French, so please excuse the English not being quite grammatical.

    Negrete

    You’ve known that poverty,

    My poor old mistreated dog!

    They beat you,

    They kicked you

They forgot that you were hungry,

They forgot that you were thirsty

They put out their cigarettes on you,

They burst out laughing when you’re hurt,

    Very bad!

    An eternity of evil!

  • Galgo Parchito on the road to recovery

Parchito 0909 300This picture shows how well Parchito is responding to the veterinary treatment for his appalling skin condition. He actually looks like he’s interested in life again. Thanks to the volunteers and the vets who do such an amazing job of saving these poor souls, abandoned like a piece of rubbish each year after the end of the hunting season.

By the way, I’ve been told that Parchito was not burned alive, it was a serious case of mange. I can only post the news as it is sent to me, and the first report said he had been burned. Whatever, it is fantastic to see him on the road to recovery.
