  • Animals Australia – what’s next for the Macau greyhounds?

    From Animals Australia

Dogs RESCUED from certain death in Macau!

I know you’ll be thrilled to hear that hundreds of greyhounds at Macau’s notorious Canidrome racetrack are finally safe. You might recall that Animals Australia investigators exposed this awful facility back in 2015 — revealing that Australian trainers were exporting dogs there to literally ‘run for their lives’.

Our investigation stopped the export of greyhounds from Australia and led to the suspension of leading trainers. But it’s been the tireless work since then of Anima Macau, Grey2K USA and Pet Levrieri that has led to this breakthrough and the closure of the Canidrome.

Because of their efforts, hundreds of dogs will now be experiencing comfort and kindness for the very first time.

  • Help needed for Pepi’s dogs

Corley one leg not grown properly 400 9 2016
Regular readers will know that over several years I have been publicising and appealing for help for the dogs in Pepis Refuge in Pedrera, Seville. Rachael Lepage is an amazing young woman living in the UK who has worked tirelessly to find forever homes for the dogs. Leash of Life is her association and here is her appeal, I hope you will support her.

‘Leash of Life need your help! As some of you may know, a few months ago the owner of Pepi’s fell very ill suddenly and we were contacted asking if we could take the remaining dogs as a matter of urgency. Which we did. A Spanish rescue very kindly found kennel and refuge space for us im the Malaga province and have spent many hours checking on them and doing vet runs etc.

So far they have cost us thousands in vets, kennel and food bills and a handful of them are still in Spain due to us not having the fosters or the funds to bring them over to the UK. We also cannot book them to the kennels we usually use because our bill is already astronomical. The rescue that helped us with them now need them gone ASAP as they are blocking spaces they desperately need for their own dogs. Given how good they have been to us, we feel awful using resources they desperately need.

  • Greyhound Compassion UK & Quaker Concern for Animals support Scooby Protectora

    Greyhound Compassion 400
Greyhound Compassion (supporting Protectora y Santuario Scooby from the UK) is pleased to announce that we have linked up with Quaker Concern for Animals. Part of this relationship will bring benefit to a special galgo – Brisa.

Brisa was rescued earlier this year as part of a pack of hunting dogs held by one man and rented out to hunters on their boar hunting excursions. Protectora y Santuario Scooby rescued all of the 36 dogs from unprecedented circumstances of neglect and animal abuse.

Brisa is an older lady from the pack and is now living at Protectora y Santuario Scooby. She does have Ehrlichiosis and this needs regular treatment with antibiotics (doxycyclilne).

  • Protectora Scooby – saturated and still they save galgos!

    Scooby 8 galgos 1 400 6 2018
8 new Galgos arrived at Scooby last week from Sevilla.

The people who rescued them asked for help from shelters in the area, but none could take care of them.
Although we are also saturated, we could not look the other way and deny these guys the opportunity to have a family and to be happy.

And, unfortunately, with this one we are more than full and we cannot do any more galgo rescues until some of them get adopted.

If you are thinking of sharing your life with a galgo, send us an email to seguimientos@scoobymedina.org
