Whole Dog Journal – teaching your dog recall
Imagine Every Dog Owner’s Worst Nightmare Happening to You…
Your dog is running straight towards the street. You’re calling his name, yelling “Come!”
What does he do?
We know you’re careful with your dog. He’s always leashed. He never bolts out of the door. He doesn’t like to chase squirrels. Until the moment he’s unsecured and he takes off.
Is your dog trained to reliably come when called? Most of us are working on a reliable “recall,” but our pooches haven’t entirely gotten the hang of it…yet. Well, he better…

Richard Skipworth cartoons – raising funds for the Greyhound Trust
I hope regular readers will have chuckled at the Richard Skipworth greyhound glossary cartoons I occasionally publish. Well, now he’s produced a book of two years’ worth of his cartoons, together with 4 Christmas Card designs and a 2019 calendar. All sold to raise funds for the Greyhound Trust. Info below.
‘I’ve just done a deal with the Greyhound Trust in the UK to sell my book through their official store. A percentage of the profits will go towards helping the hounds in their care.
Here’s a link: https://greyhoundtruststore.com/collections/all/richard-skipworthI’ve also produced a range of Christmas cards for the Greyhound Trust again this year, and they asked me to help in promoting them – see link above. According to their page, overseas shipping is available, details on this link. https://greyhoundtruststore.com/pages/about-us
The calendar is available to buy on ebay but beware, postage is expensive.

National Geographic – read about the galgos
Regular readers may remember a few years back I was contacted by London photographer Martin Usborn, who wished to visit Spain to photo the galgos, and wanted the details of a couple of refuges to contact. The result was a stunning coffee table book. Here are links to 2 interesting articles which have appeared in National Geographic magazine, the first one being an interview with Martin.

Martin Usborne – The Story of the Spanish Hunting Dog – video taster
18 months ago I was contacted by a UK photographer who wanted to visit Spain and photograph the galgos for a book. I pointed him in the direction of people to contact and refuges to visit. It was part of his year out to help animals around the world, which you can read on this link.
His book is now in the pipeline for printing. Here is a video taster which he has launched to presell copies of the book in order to fund the publishing (expensive for such a quality book) and also to raise awareness of the plight of the galgos. Please watch the video and support Martin.
