This is the Galgo News/Podenco Post Christmas Card 2011, a watercolour by my friend and animal lover Anji Ratcliffe; it’s a galgo and podenco pup on a Christmas Tree bauble. Printed on 210gm white card, it retails at 5,00 euros per pack of 6 inc envelopes plus postage. All proceeds will go towards vet fees for injured galgos and podencos.

Communicating with Animals –
Last weekend I treated myself to a weekend away – no lying in the sunshine by the side of a pool for me – rather joining half a dozen more animal lovers at a retreat in the woods of the Limousin region of France, for a weekend of learning to talk with animals! Joanne Hull, known as the Pet Psychic, was the tutor and she made the subject thoroughly fascinating and enjoyable. We students even got to practice too.
This is what Joanne’s website says about ‘talking with animals’.

Would people who receive a copy of my book ‘From Heaven to Hell – The Story of the Galgo Espanol’ which does not contain a bibliography of weblinks to websites for reference purposes, please email me and I will email one by return.
In order to try and keep postage costs to a minimum, (postage in France is expensive) the first print run of my book did not include the full bibliography. However, all books now include this.

‘A Noble Heart’ – a tale of Milly, a survivor of the annual Spanish galgo holocaust
Elisabeth Janssen is Dutch and passionate about galgos. Her companion was Milly, another survivor of the Spanish holocaust, who was taken to safety in a shelter in Holland, from where Elisabeth adopted her. When Milly became very ill and had to be put to sleep, Elisabeth decided to write a book about her adored galga.
