Terra – Galga left injured at the roadside in Cordoba – update
Here’s a positive progress report on the beautiful galga Terra left injured unable to walk. The vet fees are nearly 2,000 euros, please donate and help this small Protectora.WE HAVE GOOD NEWS! Terra is already peeing by herself. They put her up but she barely supports and since they see her more stable, possibly tomorrow she will go into surgery to fix her hip.
Terra’s veterinary bill now rises to €1,876. Please, any contribution, no matter how small, will be a huge help to us and will allow us to continue saving lives like yours.
We want to sincerely thank all of you who are contributing their grain of sand so Terra can move forward.
She’s a great fighter and, once operated, will need a foster home or, better yet, a family to adopt her. Fresh out of the clinic, she needs to be calm and special care for her recovery.

Left at the roadside unable to walk – please donate to expensive vet bills
This galga was left at the roadside after being hit by a vehicle, totally unable to walk. Luckily she has been rescued, and is with Asociacion Protectora de Animales Segunda Oportunidad Santaella in Cordoba. She has been called Terra (Earth) and this is her story so far. The vet bill is already over 2,000 euros and this small Protectora desperately needs the funds for vet fees for putting Terra back together again.TERRA EN ADOPCIÓN
Last week we received notice of this galga that was found after being hit and run. We immediately rushed her to the E.R. An analysis and several X-rays were performed. The diagnosis is heartbreaking. She has four fractured ribs, a sprain and three fractured hips. Her condition is critical, she is in a lot of pain but we will do everything we can to help her, but to achieve it we need your help. We have named her Terra.

The Fate awaiting British greyhounds sent to China
My passion for greyhounds started back in 1994 when a stray greyhound in poor condition turned up at our Suffolk farmhouse. In those days no one adopted greyhounds. Moving to France I discovered the situation for the Spanish Greyhound (galgos) and started my long fight to publicise their plight and help the rescue associations. So it’s easy to forget that the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (nothing Great about Britain now!) ignores the plight of unwanted greyhounds transported to a life of hell in China! Would you believe they eat greyhounds in China>!
So for a change from galgos, I’m publishing this latest report from Kerry Elliman who originally founded Greyhound Protection UK which developed into Candi Hound Rescue International. She has been rescuing British greyhounds in China for several years and this is her latest report, from 25/11/2024.

Justice for Podenco Mr Bones – a call for change
Although this sad story is about a podenco, it is also about a situation that could happen to a galgo. Sharing the story written by Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends.
‘This is a long but important post and it would be greatly appreciated if you can share it. Paws on Hearts/Aguiproan Animal Rescue And Rehoming
As a rescuer, this is one of our greatest fears. Many rescues, including Paws on Hearts Animal Rescue and Rehoming, work tirelessly to ensure their dogs are safe, even after rehoming. A common practice is to dual-register microchips in both the adopter’s name and the rescue’s name. In theory, this system ensures that both parties must be consulted before a rescue dog is euthanised.
But tragically, this safeguard failed Mr. Bones. He is not the first rescue dog to be euthanised without a rescue’s knowledge or consent — and heartbreakingly, he won’t be the last unless change is made.

Murdered by a Spanish galguero
From Plataforma NAC
The rescuer didn’t arrive in time, his “owner” killed him with a blow, but nothing happens in Spain!
Is it impunity to kill an animal in cold blood? A few days ago a rescue group received a warning from the people who are at the Football Fields of Friendship in Palencia, there are 3 dogs wandering around the facilities. The rescuers get involved and manage to save two of the animals, the local police are notified and since one of the dogs has a microchip, the owner is notified.

Valencia Floods – SOS Podencos update
From SOS Podencos – at one point the water was waste deep.31/10/2024
Most of our dogs are out of the kennel and placed into temporary foster homes. The two remaining are inside the house that is in the kennel, and they will leave today.
There are still other dogs in the kennel that aren’t ours, but it seems the legal owners don’t want them to go into foster homes..Now is the time to clean, fix and rebuild!
If you can come help, it will be appreciated.
Here is a video of the state of the kennel. It’s full of mud and water. The fences are broken, ripped from the ground. All the dog food is gone. The dog beds are gone or broken.
