  • Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK – helping find forever homes for Scooby hounds

Scooby UK gaggle of galgos 400
Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK is the UK agent responsible for rehoming abandoned and often abused dogs from the Scooby Animal Shelter in Medina, northern Spain. We find suitable foster and permanent adoption homes throughout the UK and take care of all the stages from bringing your chosen Spanish rescue from the shelter to the UK.

Our aim is to help Scooby Medina rehome the excess of dogs that they protect to prevent them living the rest of their days in the shelter, sadly there is simply not enough demand at this present time to all be rehomed in Spain. Over time we hope this might change and our services will no longer be required. This can only be achieved by educating and raising awareness throughout the rural communities of Spain into understanding the importance of neutering and to eradicate needless neglect, cruelty and abandonment for good.

  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – Galga Eden makes progress

    From Sandy Galgoslover

    Video

Eden has now come home. The blood transfusion did its job and she was strong enough to leave the clinic.

She’s installed in her own private kennel, a fresh shower that she clearly enjoyed, a soft bed, plenty of food and fresh water and we’re already seeing a totally different Eden from the living dead one we picked up on last week. She still has a long way to go, but things can only get better from now on. The only way is UP.

    Please help with vet fees.

  • Spanish shelters – Zero killing

    Zero sacrifice 450 8 2022
Great news. But that means even more dogs in shelters! Now Spain needs a law for compulsory neutering of dogs and cats and handcuffing the hunters for overbreeding.

  • Who will mourn me

    Who will mourn me 400 7 2021
This was written for the thousands English and Irish greyhounds but it is just as appropriate for the hundreds of thousands of galgos who have suffered and still suffer at the hands of the bastard galgueros.

    IN MEMORY
This weekend marks the anniversary when British commercial greyhound began in 1926. For 95 years greyhounds have been overbred and culled – cruelly abused and destroyed for the sake of a bet. Over one million greyhounds bred for British racing will have died at the hands of the murderous gambling industry. Please hold in your thoughts those innocent souls – many of whose fates were sealed once they were born a racing greyhound…..may they all rest gently in peace

  • How long to crate a dog?

    https://www.peta.org/about-peta/why-peta/crating-dogs/

    Article in The Guardian.

One woman, Nina Torres, reckons it’s fine for most adult dogs to be in a crate “nine hours maximum” during the day (with a walk in the middle), and then eight hours at night.

I cannot believe anyone would condone incarcerating a dog for most of the 24 hours of its life!! I’m with PETA!
