Not about galgos but greyhounds, who also suffer terrible abuse. Hundreds of British, Irish and Australian greyhounds end up in China, where they eat dogs, as you know! Belle Vue, Manchester, and Peterborough Stadiums are two recent closures in England, Florida is a recent closure in the US, and now Kansas. Grey2K USA has launched a ‘Help End Greyhound Racing’ action pack of petitions.

‘Big news is that a Kansas dog track will be sold to create greenspace and a new business center offering 1,000 jobs, we know that the trend is with the greyhounds. That’s why we have just launched our brand new action center! That’s right, greyhound advocates can now sign multiple petitions to decision makers around the world, send emails with a click of the mouse to every governor in every US racing state, and share special memes and messages on social media to help greyhounds far and wide.’

Click on this weblink to the petitions to sign, and share please.

Don’t forget galgos are also raced, Medina del Campo being the racing centre in Spain. I’ve written to ask them to include that in their International Petitions link.

  • Galga Amy with Ann’s Canine Care in – leaving Malaga for her forever home

    Ann MP Amy 400 5 2020
Amy’s story, from Ann Marie Payne.

‘This goodbye is really going to hurt. Remember Amy who was living in atrocious conditions during the lockdown. Sue JAy, through a friend, and myself, and with veterinary support managed to get her out of danger and down to Mijas where she was examined and vaccinated by Costapet.

Amy came into my life as an unknown quantity but, immediately found her place in my heart. She is such a beautiful character, kind, so loving and also funny. When we were at Costapet she stole a treat whilst I was paying for her treatment, and brought it home with her. She settled in so easily with Rosely and the very timid little Pearl. But every time I put clean washing on the table Amy decided it was her place to sleep! I put a box on the table to stop her doing this and she decided that was better to sleep in the box than on top of the washing as she could curl up better in it.

This poor galga was found on the street this week. I’ve asked if she has been rescued yet.

This galguita has given birth on the street in Merida. She’s in danger, because some neighbors don’t want her over there.
Provisional foster is needed where you can have mommy and babies until they can give up for adoption.
    Can you help?

Thanks for all your love, your comments, your donations, and for sharing our film. We’re grateful for your support – please keep watching and sharing today. Let’s extend the kindness towards all animals and keep producing stories that matter for nature.

  • Ban hare coursing – join in the campaign

    Ban hare coursing 400 4 2020
Where I used to live in Suffolk, England, we had cars arrive at a field in September after the crops had been harvested. The men had greyhounds with them, plus cages with trapped hares. We used to call the police but by the time they arrived, the men and dogs had scarpered. My first greyhound turned up at our home as a stray and from her condition I reckon she was one that got left behind because she was not fast enough. She lived happily with my other dogs and cats too. So although this campaign isn’t about galgos, hare coursing does happen in Spain just the same, it’s what the galgueros do. Please write and join the campaign.

New Bill to ban Live hare coursing…

Let’s ask politicians to back protection of Ireland’s persecuted hares!

  • Protectora Scooby – feeling the effects of lockdown

    Scooby appeal during lockdown 3 2020 400
So many shelters will be suffering as a result of lockdown – animals can’t be transported to their forever homes. Here’s an appeal from Scooby, but many other associations will be feeling the same.

‘We are very worried about our animals and their future, you know that we managed to get many dogs and cats adopted by collaborating with other associations of countries such as France, Italy, Netherlands, Czech Republic or USA.

We are clear that if it were not for the help from outside Spain it would be impossible for us to rescue so many animals because Spain’s adoptions in global computation mean less than 15 % of total adoptions…, and what if the animal shipments for the theme of coronavirus? Before lockdown, there was a scheduled trip to Milan and this could not be made, this means that animals have to stay longer with us, and the worst, that while some do not leave we can not help others because we have no place to help others.

  • Animal charities desperate for help

This is an appeal from Spanish Stray Dogs charity, but their situation during this time will be the same for all animal charities, especially as, with people not being able to work, there could be more dogs abandoned than ever. Please support your favourite dog charities.

‘We have suffered a huge set back financially as many other charities and families around the world have. Due to the pandemic, our two charities shops in Spain have been forced to shut. This has had a huge impact on the charities finances and is a very very big cause for concern for us for the future of the work we do.

We need your financial support more than ever now’. As the lock down in Spain carries on and on with no real end in sight we face very serious consequences if we cannot find the money we need to provide food, labour and vet care to over 300 dogs a month!
