Ferria of 100 x 100 Mascotas (Pets) Madrid – SOS Perrera Badajoz speaks out
Her Majesty, Queen Sofia of Spain, visited the exhibition of IFEMA in Madrid where they were holding the Feria of 100 x 100 Mascotas (Pets) at the weekend.
The Queen very kindly stopped at the stand of SOS Perrera Badajoz and listened attentively to the explanations of Jorge and Noemi, two of our volunteers, about our work and the situation with the dogs in the perrera.
She was touched to hear about Dora’s case, who received lots of stroking from her, and at the end, she was interested in our claims against the Town Hall of Badajoz and took away with her a complete dossier and documentation about our denuncia.

Desperately needing a new van – can you help?
Sorry, folks, bit slow on publishing news at the moment as we’ve lost out Internet connection and I’m having to use a friend’s wifi.
112carlotagalgos have a desperate appeal for help. Their trusty van has finally died, brakes, suspension..you name it, it’s beyond repairable. This means Charl cannot get to the vet, collect rescued dogs, etc. Nightmare! So this fundraiser has been launched to get the money together towards a new van – we’re talking about 15-20,000 euros for a 2nd hand one from a garage with guarantee. Scooby blog – contacted me two days ago a girl from Lominchar-Toledo. Had long behind an abandoned greyhound … last March 31 found him murdered and buried semi. Cool to be Kind – a promise
Cool To Be Kind has been launched by Sarah Fisher. Basically it is encouraging people to make a short 2 minute video saying what your promise is to help and to be kind to animals. Then you nominate two or three other people to do something along the same lines. If they don’t have animals, they can help in a refuge, cattery, riding stables, donate food and/or medicines.
I was nominated by Natalie Osborne. Now you can see my Cool to be Kind video and I hope that many of you will join in and make a similar video, upload it to Youtube – and facebook if you have a page. Galgos Ethique Europe – the latest news on their work
Galgos Ethique Europe was formed in 2009. Those of you who have read my book will know I mention them. 4 years have now passed and I was recently in contact with Joelle for an update on their work. Here’s what she writes.
‘In 2009 Galgos-Ethique-Europe (GEE) was formed to create a collective mouvement for the protection of galgos, podencos and Ibizan hounds found in Spain and adopted in Europe. They issued an ethical chart aimed at creating a strong partnership between people involved in their rescue, having the same ethics and together move towards a collective effort to improve the law at the european level.
