It can be very cold and wet in northern Spain and the animals need shelter from the weather. Please read this appeal from Scooby for donations towards building new shelters for the animals.

Galgo Panteon – rescued from a grave and waiting forever
From Cobie at Protectora Scooby Valladollid.‘So many people want to adopt Princessa, the galga that probably was shot through her head and that is good because this girl needs the best family there is after her ordeal and live the rest of her life in luxury as she deserves.
But there are so many dogs who deserve this, and one of them is Panteon. He was not shot in his head but fell, when abandoned and looking desperate on a graveyard for something to eat, in a new dug grave from 2 meters deep from which it was impossible for him to get out! Luckily somebody found him and warned Scooby so we could take him out and bring him to safety and this timid boy is now, over half a year later, still not adopted…He needs a bit time to know you but than he is the sweetest and most thankful boy you can imagine. He so needs his own, loving family which he can trust to be happy and also live the life he deserves…!’
Contact Scooby direct if you can offer him the loving forever home he deserves. -

Update on Galga Princesa with Protectora Scooby
Update Princesa.
In addition to being a great fighter, she is a very good galguita and she behaves very well when we treat her wounds
She already wants to run and play with other dogs, but it is still a little early to let her do it freely.Little by little she is recovering and although she has lost an eye that does not prevent her from living a normal life and being happy ☺️.

6 months old galga – what did the bastard hunter do to her?!!
‘WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOU PRINCESA?!
We do not know what happened to Princesa, we cannot assure that the wound that crosses her face is from a shot, but what we can assure is that she has a hole with a trajectory that begins above the eye and ends in the lower jaw . Our little girl, only six months old , has had to suffer a lot of pain these days since in addition to the wound, the infection she had in the affected area was tremendous.
Princesa has lost her eye, too little thing if we consider that what she could have lost was her life .

Desperate situation for the Galgos of Spain
February 1st was Day of the Galgo. And rather than show you the awful photos of Galgos, and how they have died through torture and neglect, I’d rather concentrate on the present situation that effects me daily, along with other rescues, both large and small, and individuals trying to help.
Day of the Galgo is no different from any other day, but I’m so terribly sad because I received a message tonight about a Galgo living on the streets in the next village to me. It was from a young lady, and she wrote ” I am trying to help it, but nobody helps me” This is in Sierra de Yegas, close to Campillos, in deep hunting grounds. I sat there and cried because I am so full and, cannot take on another until some go. I’ve got to the point yet again!!! where I’m frightened to open messages in case there is another about a Galgo in need that I can’t open my door to.
There are so many of them and it’s a constant battle to make room to take another in. And also to be able to support them financially to prepare them for adoption. Tomorrow there is a nationwide demonstration in many regions of Spain to promote the banning of hunting with Galgos. If you see any of these posts please share and spread the word about their plight. Change is happening, but like most other things, it takes time. There’s one thing above all else that I’d like to see and, it is that the Galgos and other hunting breeds get the same rights that pets have.
Galgos are my world, they are so forgiving of our human failures, and they make wonderful pets. Please consider adopting one, if you can’t then maybe you could foster one short term, or donate towards their care.
I have a teaming group if you could donate just one euro per month, https://www.teaming.net/ann-scaninecare
Or just share, you may reach somebody that can helpAlternatively if you prefer to use PayPal this is the address ann.spain@gmail.com
Thank you for your support, your shares and for simply being there for us

February 1st – Day of the Galgo
Your day is not just one, your day is all, 365 of the year. But on February 1 our voices, representing the greyhounds, sound higher and clearer than ever to explain to everyone that, in the 1st century, is still used by most galgueros as a mere tool of Work, as a thing that when it ruins, does not fulfill its function, or it is no longer profitable, throw and buy a new.
The end that awaits a greyhound who stops being profitable for his owner is, in the best of cases, abandonment, since in many places in Spain are still hanged, they are killed or thrown alive To Wells.
Thousands of greyhounds are born every year to replace the thousands who are discarded until when?
